This is the part of the penalty that would baffle me. How did Alabama gain a competitive advantage on the field of play with this text book debacle. Someone care to enlighten me?

I'd agree with you on that. I don't see a competitive advantage.

The fact is because of their actions they were suspended. And, because they had taken out the extra books at the beginning of the semester those games they participated in were situations where the NCAA looks on them as ineligible.

I know the two aren't related, but I go back to the OU case where their players were being paid for hours not worked at the car dealership, the NCAA said they had to forfeit games but after appeal those wins were reinstated.

I don't think tomorrow will offer any news other than this. But, I hope the University does make a statement on whether they plan to appeal those forfeits.

Again, this is what I've got from a few people this afternoon. I have no reason to doubt them based on things they've shared in the past.

I'm told there might be a difference here in forfeited games and vacated wins. Not sure about this...we'll see tomorrow.

Also hearing there are plans to appeal. Again, we'll see on that as well.

:a:The NCAA may "vacate" the wins, but deep down inside, those that were in attendance that glorious October day in 2007 and saw the massive beatdown the viles took @ BDS, and heard the reverbirating roar of Rammer Jammer, and saw the Phat One walk off that field w/ his tail tucked between his legs all know.....that was the beginning of CNS's domination over that bunch of hillbillies.....and the rest of the SEC is now aware as well.

Vacate the wins?? Fine, do what you have to do, NCAA- But those in attendance that day will never vacate the feeling of euphoria watching that bunch get their heads handed to them on a platter.

They were suspended for that game. That win should not be vacated.

I'm baffled as well. The only thing that would make sense here is if more players are/were involved.

Nothing matters to me but that ass whipping Auburn took last year. The NCAA can stick whatever findings and rulings straight up their....... After the last sanctions they gave us I have pretty much loss faith in their process. Now its time to get back to Alabama kicking everyone else right off the field.

I am working on my masters atm and the cost of books is just plain stupid. Was the same when I was in college the first time. Atleast this time I can DL the books to my laptop and I get to keep them.

Isn't the irony of this just amazing? The NCAA is punishing a school because players gave their friends text books. :bs:
