🏈 Saban's temper on the sidelines, and why I like it.

We've had some coaches that could flat out get p-o'd about a play, or a missed call, or a miscue. We have had some coaches that simply stood by and crossed their arms when someone screwed up.

But this guy.....Man. He blew up a couple times in that game Saturday night. At halftime, my seats were in such a place that I couldn't read his lips well, but when Tracy Wolfson asked him something, with the head bob, and the arms pointing, and the movements, I could tell he wasn't thrilled. The headset coming off when #8 blew his assignment was the best.
I've got a mean temper too, not usually resulting in things being thrown. There again, I'm not coaching the #2 team in all of College Football.

I like the temper, and it suits the program, and the CONFERENCE very well. That kind of intensity translates to the players we need to win very well.

I don't have a problem with it. Often times you have to show the players it means a "helluva lot" to you as well to get their attention. I have never been a fan of that "oh well" attitude.

The intensity is great! Much better than flashing back to Dubose pulling the headset down and clapping his hands after we threw a pick or Shula looking like a deer in headlights on third down.

Yeah I found it pretty inspiring to see Saban worked up on the sidelines. That man is awesome in so many ways! :a:

i'll say i prefer it over Wade Philips or Charlie Weis attitude. i don't like coaches who don't show emotions.

I like his demeanor and if fans from other schools disapprove, it solidifies my opinions. If you want to see old school, kick your a$$ football, Alabama is where you want to play. As Malzahn said..."If you want to see just a bunch of guys gettin' after it and no cussing by the players or coaches, then parents..arbin is the place for your son to play." I hope they continue with their wanna-be, pseudo church atmosphere in the locker room. Show me a team that is all heart, and I'll show you a team that is about to get their ass kicked. I love Saban's intensity.....That was one thing that drove me crazy about EVERY coach we have had back to Stallings. They seemd to have the same demeanor no matter the situation. And if I am getting more upset than the coach that even drives me more crazy because it gives the impression they are ok with piss poor performances.

The clapping Dubose and Shula did was like salt in my wounds. It made me want to get a sledge hammer and pound concrete. So yes, I am glad Saban is intense at times.

An old deacon at our church, who has since gone on to his reward, liked to tell of the time a DB blew a coverage and someone scored on Bama. This deacon, watching the game on TV, said Coach Bryant turned to him at least three times and said, "Where the hell were you?"

These kids sometimes want a little discipline in their lives, and many times it's their coach who teaches it to them.

I love Sabans intensity as much as everyone else but I have to disagree. I think there are other ways of getting your point across. The yelling at players I'm OK with but not the throwing things around. It looks out of control and I hope it don't get worse.

I always thought Bobby Knight was a great coach but if you weren't an Indiana fan he looked like a complete idiot to the rest of the world and especially the way the media would portray him in media clips. Hopefully coach doesn't hit a player like Knight or Woody Hayes did. We certainly don't want that kind of attention.

I love his passion but if he expects poise from his players he needs to demonstrate it on the sidelines. Throwing headphones doesn't look poised to me. I'd bet he got his arse chewed from Terry last Saturday night. Just saying

I can totally see your point, and I respect that. To some, all the screaming and yelling and cussin just doesn't seem to represent the University well. However, I guess in the war that is college football in the SEC, it seems to be what is appropriate, I guess.

But I can see how a lot of fans don't want it or need it. It's not like you can't read the guy's lips when you're watching on TV. Funny moment a couple weeks ago when Julio got mugged in the end zone, and Saban had an official cornered... to quote "He knocked his a$$ down to the ground!!" The official just looked at him. Saban then says "Well he f-ing did!"

Better to know when to control yourself and when to let it lose. I enjoyed seeing him throw it down...wonder how much practice time they wasted to blow that one play not to mention it prevented a possible td in a game for the western title. Time and place for everything and Saban usually does a good job at knowing when to react and when to show restraint. That is more important.

Martha and I don't like it.

We don't like it one bit.

We Like our food bland,

Our clothing sedate,

and our intercouse performed quietly with the lights off like God intended.

We certainly don't cotton to these wild young coaches with their foul language and loud tirades.

Why, the next thing you know they'll be wantin' to play that Rock n' Rollin' Devil music in the stadium and makin' people dance.
