🏈 Saban vs. Shula

Ok. You're saying Alabama is led by mediocre coaches. I know an analytical mind such as yours will not tolerate mediocrity (or mediocracy, for that matter), so who would be a good replacement for our mediocre head coach (other than Paul Johnson)? Since you're so concerned with the path of our slouching program, particularly since Saban inherited the program in such good shape, surely you have recommendations for a replacement.

What does the Oracle of Lee County suggest? Help us make this right.

Thanks for pointing that out. An expert such as dabaxter should at least know how to spell.

It should have been 42-0 at the half. There is no excuse for getting outcoached by the likes of Gene Chizik and Les Miles. I can live with Spurrier occasionally.

Forget these sunshine pumpers who are living in the past. You've convinced me our coach is broken and has poor posture. Who should we get to replace him? Lead us to the promised land, Lord Lemming.

How old an ol' boy are you, dabaxter? I'm wondering if you were around for Coach Bryant's last season. You know, Bama slipped from a 10-2 record two years earlier to an 8-4 in 1982. Dang, what a mediocre coach! :lance:

Maybe we could get Bill Curry back.:panic:

we have all failed to mention that we really didnt get to see what Mike Price would have done...I mean it's not like the old fellow played some questionable songs over the P.A. during pre-game warm-ups or anything

You know, after the AU game, I told one of my friends that my biggest fear was that the "idiot" Bama fans would start whining and complaining about a 9-3 season. Kinda like how the UF fans started bitching about Spurrier right before he left for the Redskins.

Sigh, you "expected" Bama to lose a couple of games. USC played as perfect a game as I have ever seen that team play. Lost to LSU due to breakdowns in pass coverage. Miles did beat us with the trick plays that we should have been ready for.

The AU game: is it CNS fault that Trent dropped an easy TD pass? Is it CNS fault that Mark Ingram got the ball punched out from behind for his SECOND lost fumble in 3 years of play? I saw a fired up Bama team come out with a great gameplan and execute it for 1.5 quarter before the PLAYERS started making mental mistakes and lost their mojo. The only thing I can fault the coaching staff for is letting Steen go one-on-one with Fariley at any point during that game.

How about this, lets say our coach goes:
8-2-1
8-3
6-5
6-5-1
Pretty mediocre huh? Guess its time to put some heat on him! Lets get some boosters on a midnight plane ride and can the loser! Congratulations, you just FIRED Paul W. Bryant after the 1970 season.

@ Bama Saban is :
7-6
12-2
14-0 SEC Champ, BCS Champ
9-3 (could end 10-3)

How "mediocre" of him....

Southern Bama, the internet cops are going to get you for indecent exposure. I hope they don't hit you with a tazer.

 I know alot of fan bases have their share of nuts that truly believe a championship is entitled to them every year....but im convinced weve got more spoiled nuts than any other fanbase  I didnt see Saban fumble the ball...or drop a TD pass at the goal line. The man comes here, is paid well, put together a very good staff, recruited his azz off, and has won a NC. The demands and delusions sum here have are ridiculous. Some want to blame Saban, McElwain, janitor.....etc.... Could it possibly be that we just flat made the mistakes on the field.....is it possible the players were outplayed........maybe the players made some uncharacteristic mistakes. Then sum will say that if Saban had done this...that ..and the other...those players would have executed correctly....REALLY... Any parent here that has a kid above the age of 15 knows that you can teach and guide your kids their entire lives to do the right thing....but believe me, they will screw up and it aint got a damn thing to do with the parent. Everyone knows Saban is a winner...his record proves it. And as for the tazer....sum here need a cattle prod up da azz :bootyshake: Roll Tide.....

Hmmm. I can't seem to find where I suggested firing Saban. I'll keep looking. However, maybe we should melt his statue down and ask for some money back until he gets his act together.:fight:

No. You just said that, with a 9-3 record, he "has slouched towards mediocracy [sic] this year." Given your parameters, Coach Bryant slouched toward mediocrity for four years before he went to the wishbone and then he slouched some more his last two seasons. Were you on his case back then? Are you old enough to have been on his case back then?

I'm not old enough to have been around when Bryant had a 5-5-1 season and almost got fired. In the twilight of his career, he was so proven with so many accomplishments, he wouldn't be worthy of "catching heat". I felt the same of Gene Stallings his last 2 seasons. Until Saban wins back to back national titles, let's not put him in the category with Bryant just yet.

Did Bryant ever give away at 24 point lead and lose?

The pathetic display vs Auburn on Saturday, and the outrageous pay Saban receives, makes this a situation where Saban deserves to catch some serious heat. Period.
