🏈 Saban statue to be completed within 2 weeks

i'm sorry, but i totally think this is gay. i mean, a statue because of a national championship??? and before he's even retired??? and while he is still coaching your very team???

Saban is bad@$$, but what a set up for failure.

I don't like the idea about him getting a statue right now, but not sure you can say this is a setup for failure. he has improved the recruiting classes, instilled something into them players, and won a MNC in 3 years, oh yeah we have ~40 freshmen of 85 spots... Not what I would call a failure no matter what he does from here on out.

you misunderstood. i'm not saying that i expect Saban to fail now. in fact, i can't think of a single negative about our program right now. but that's just it - there's only one way to go from here. let's see how long he can keep us on top before we erect statues. i mean, hell, in Dubose's third season he beat Spurrier (who was god at the time) twice in the same season, won the SEC, and won SEC Coach of the Year, and then what happened?

and last gripe: how many titles did we have before Saban came to Tuscaloosa? if the man had given us our very first national title, then ok maybe, but it's not like we haven't tasted success before.

You win a national championship you get a statue, that's the bottom line. You knew this, I knew this, Saban knew this, Mal Moore knew this, and every player on the team knew this. I don't see what the big deal is. A statue is not going to make or break this program...and Saban has given no indication that something like this would. It's inevitably going to go up and everyone knows it...I don't see the point in delaying it.

+1 for the statue. and if anyone in the Montgomery, Prattvile area is going to this PM me i'd like to ride along. Split the gas.
If my old beat up truck braks down on me goin to T-town this year it's going to be for the Penn, Fla, or iron bowl.

But i'd like to be there to see this.

I'm totally ok with that statue. Alabama has always been enamored with their coaches, no matter who it is. The fact that Saban is a legend to be, walking around our campus and coaching makes it ok. He is no different to us, than what JoePa is to PSU.

I'm not comparing JoePa's 137 years at PSU to Saban's 4 at Bama, but we view Saban in the same light that PSU fans do JoePa. I think that Saban is truly here till retirement. IMO we have 10 years or less to enjoy this. When Saban leaves to go to lake Burton, I expect we will have played in several MNC games. Statue might seem premature, but when the end of this era (dynasty) comes nobody will be able to say anything negative about Saban and his way of doing things. We will love him just like we love Stallings.
