šŸ“” Saban on Waddle today:

All those things are things that we’re focusing on. On the offensive side, we’ve gotta develop some depth in some other players -- especially at receiver now that we’ve lost Waddle for a while -- to step up and be able to add some depth and be a playmaker on that side. I don’t think there’s a player on our team, on either side of the ball or on special teams, that doesn’t know that there’s not something I can do a little bit better.

out for a while?

I don't work around any ortho's and my question all along has been whether or not they will do a second surgery to remove the hardware once the bone heals.

From what I have seen most folks have the hardware left in, but Waddle is not most folks, and considering what's at stake (NFL future), I wonder if he would be better to have it removed once the bone heals.

Typical healthy folks take 4-6 weeks for bone to heal. I remember Dr Andrews talking about these fine tuned athletes and how they heal at an even faster rate than average Joe, but also this was a pretty nasty break from all the "internet rumors".

Before the surgery "he's out several months." After the surgery—that went as well as could be expected—it was still "out several months." I haven't heard anything about a second operation. I don't expect him back this season.

Nine screws, two bands.
Dayum, they patch'em up right nowadays.... destroyed my ankle my freshman year (foot was pointing the wrong direction, it was ugly).... for me it was 2 pins...... course that was back in 1980..... Lloyd Nolan Hospital in Fairfield for some of you old timers that may remember it back in the day. :p
Still the healing process and time frame for the healing is still the same with the "out several month".... I agree Terry, don't expect him back this season.
