I get the concern about the imbalance but we play these three every year already and we have done alright. Is it the fact we are adding one more SEC game ...?
1+7 would allow more flexibility with OOC scheduling.
IF they go to 3+6 Alabama should be canceling several OOC games in the future. There's no reason to play a schedule with nine SEC games along with Ohio State and West Virginia.
Mark my words. Barner Mee maw is watching Saban very closely. If she even thinks that he is suggesting not playing the Iron Bowl every year, she will get a law passed requiring the two play each other every year. Whether Saban likes it or not, the IB isn't going anywhere

I guess....i am ok with scheduling,,.AU isnt a power team every year...and not proven to be so... ( No back to back 10 win seasons since 80s)
Tennessee hasn't been in awhile....( 2-3 winning seasons since 90s)
Somebody really think these 2 will be top 10..15..20...every year ..
. in the future...nil? Well lots of others have nil money...
The only issue is....these 3 are truly rivalry games........and bama has lots of long term rivalries...msu...ole ms...included
A lot of weaker...have nots...get to play each other...

I'm all for having the meaningful OOC games along with the 3-6. In a 12-team playoff, there will be three-loss teams in the mix, and I'll predict a four-loss team with a strong schedule will make it in. It cuts both ways. Stronger schedules increase the likelihood of multiple losses, but SOS vaults chances for selection and improves revenues.
I think Bamas common 3 should've been UT-AU-MSST - Makes more geographical sense and the LSU rivalry has been more of a thing in recent years than historically a rivalry.

She needs to worry about how many kids can't read, how to attract/retain industry, keeping rural hospitals open and building decent roads. I don't think she's watching Saban closely. Maybe Miss Terry...
It's not "by law." The bill that was introduced to the state senate was defeated.
Now, there was a meeting between the governor and representatives of both schools but the details of that meeting were never published/released. The media headline, "ordered," is ... gotta love this, "disinformation."
The Florida Board of Controlāthe group overseeing the State University System of Floridaāannounced the two schools would begin competing in football after a meeting with the two reps of the two schools, the board, and the governor.
There's been a lot of fact vs fiction on this story for over half a century.
Why would anybody not want a texas vs @&M....AL vs AU...Pitt vs PSU...Ok.vs Neb...
Mich vs OSU...UCLA vs uSCw...Ole MS vs LSU....
These are the great classics ..... might not like the opponent..may hate the opponent ...
Just makes it better...
All the others are just games....to many of these have ended...NO MORE

Exactly. In all this quest for "change", the first thing that seems to hit the chopping block are the rivalries that have made college football great. I've heard it said that nothing really comes from beating auburn other than keeping them from getting bragging rights, which is what they live for. While true to an extent, I STILL couldn't imagine college ball without the Iron Bowl and other year end traditional rivalry games
