🏈 Saban on "Mike & Mike" on ESPN

They asked him once again about leaving to the NFL, they said something to the effect, can you shut the door on this for good (aka, finally say NO on the record)? Saban responds, "the dang hinges are worn out".

Funny. He certainly created this and I'd imagine he'd love to not have to constantly answer these questions...but I'm sure he knows it will never end.

Answers like "the dang hinges are worn out" is not a definitive answer either. Coach Saban has the right to leave the door open if he chooses. What kind of honest man can definitively close the door on what he will do with the rest of his life?

The problem is not the answer, the problem is all these idiots constantly asking the same old worn out question.

Ask anyone what they intend to do the rest of their life and see if you can get a straight, honest, definitive answer out of anyone?

It is a question that no man or woman can answer. Saban should have asked both Mike and Mike if they could definitively close the door on ever leaving the Mike and Mike show...

Sigh

if he is willing to drop it why can't we?

He has said he ain't going back to the pros. That NFL means "not for long". He has almost dissed the NFL in some regards in interviews at Miami last week. People need to understand that just because he made a mistake in how he handled Miami Dolphins does not mean he's a perpetual liar. Count on your hand how many times he has ever made the same mistake twice. It doesn't happen. Not with Saban. Not saying he'd never return there later on. I'm just saying that if he does he will handle it differently than how he handled it leaving Miami.

Personally I feel he will retire here. I just don't see his process system working with players that make as much if not more than he does. He likes to evolve his players not only on the field but as men. You can't really do that in the pros and I think that's one of the big reasons why the NFL doesn't appeal to him, besides all the red tape, formalities and politics involved with it. Not to mention drafting vs recruiting. It just doesn't seem to jive with his mantra and ego.

So I don't know how many more times he will have to address the issue. I guess it will take him totally slamming the NFL to the point no GM would want him. I just wished all the talking heads and Bama fans would just drop it.

if he goes he goes. Thanks for all you've done Coach. If he doesn't then that's just fine by me too. Not worth stressing over it anymore.
