Okay. I'm getting a lot of this from LSU people down here. "We're pulling for Bama to beat Texas. As much as we hate Saban, we gotta pull for the SEC team."

What I can't figure is, why all the Saban hate? It ain't like he left LSU for Bama. And, when he decided the pro game wasn't for him, I seem to recall that LSU already had a coach. Name of Lester something-or-other. So, Nick couldn't go back to LSU if he'd wanted to.

It all borders on stupidity.

From an LSU friend of mine, its not because he is at Alabama, its because he's not at LSU. Him leaving LSU was enough, but not being committed to leaving the college game made it worse. The fact that he is so close just gives them a more easy and frequent chance to express. Has he ended up at Washington, they would hate him the same, just say so less often.

LSU fan at work (straight from cajun country) told me several weeks ago...after les blew the clock management that she we love to have Saban back and most people she knows think the same.

Had Coach Bryant left us in 1970 for the Dolphins' job (a job he is rumored to have accepted and changed his mind before any public announcement) and after two years decided he made a mistake and wanted back in the college game AND then taken a job at Tennessee or Georgia I am pretty confident in saying we would have reacted toward him the exact same way the LSU fans do toward Saban.

And imagine if Coach Bryant had taken a job at our most hated rival - Auburn.

Remember that would have been before Coach Bryant won three more MNCs and had the super run the decade of the 1970s (becoming the first team to win 100 games in a decade). So he would not have had the totality of his good will built with us yet.

All so true! And I guess we have his Grandson to thank for that. Story is that he took the boy fishing to tell him that he was making that move. Kid said, "Grandpa, why would you want to coach anywhere but Bama?"

But it didn't happen, thus we can continue to berate the coon-asses.

Also, Bill Oliver did worse and most Bama fans still respect and admire him.
