What a difference a decade makes.
Some 10 years ago, Alabama’s Mal Moore was still wandering around in the coaching-search wilderness, trying to find a tourniquet for a program that was bleeding in just about every direction thanks to a couple of impending Moore decisions and some good fortune for cross-state rival Auburn.

Reading that article, I think I now know what it feels like to be a New England Patriots fan (recently, anyway). Don't get me wrong, I've ALWAYS been proud of my team, even during Dumboise and Shula's years, but now we are feared, revered, and hated, all at the same time. I wasn't around during Bear's heydays, I barely remember the Golden Flake commercials when I was like 5, but this must have been what it felt like during the 60's and 70's.

I lived through the '70's watching Alabama football through the eyes of a child. Now, seeing this in my 40's?!?!

It's made the memories of the Stallings years take on a new light.
