šŸˆ Saban back in play for Texas? The word on the street from Austin.

Can someone please merge the OTHER new thread this dude has made, you cant deny hes attempting to bait us now.

I think, and I could be wrong, that Old Timer is just a friendly guy that prefers to talk to opposing fans rather than just interact with UT fans. It doesn't really seem like trolling. He's not been insulting, hasn't really responded aggressively to insults hurled towards him, and seems to stay on point for the most part. It could be argued that his "on point" is annoying to members of this forum but there is no rule that says you have to read to or reply to every single thread.

I have no doubt that the word on the street in Austin is that Saban is back in play. It doesn't mean it's true. It just means that a rabid fan base, with a mentality that you can't really understand until you've experienced it, thinks it is true.

Texas fans make the unrealistic expectations of Auburn and Alabama fans look tame. (not that all expectations from any of our fan bases are always unreasonable but we all know that they sometimes are.) The superiority of Texas to every other state is ingrained in Texans for their entire childhood. To them, and to many other people without ties to either place, Texas is a much better job than Alabama. It does not appear Saban is one of those people.

Sorry yall can be more gracious but there is no doubt in my mind what hes attempting to do, poke Bama fans with a stick. Otherwise you wouldnt make MULTIPLE threads about the same issue, the last two within minutes.

I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion of my fellow Texans thinking that things in Texas are bigger, brighter, and better than anyplace else. It is indoctrinated into kids from an early age here. It's not really until one gets to college and begins to truly understand how small and different they really are in this great nation and world we live in.

Perhaps it is unrealistic, and has been from the get-go, that many Texas fans (myself included) have pined for better than what we were getting with Mack Brown. We knew about Nick Saban. Texas played LSU when Saban was coach there in the Cotton Bowl. Texas and Mack had the upper hand and the win over LSU and Saban that day, but a single loss does not define a coach. And many in Texas knew that Nick Saban was special. And maybe it is with our "bigger is better" brainwashed attitude that we so naively jumped into this fantasy-world sweepstakes for Saban. Its also the same thinking that makes many of us believe that it isn't over yet.

I'm just sharing this perspective with you and it's something that, I am sure, many Alabama fans had rightfully suspected. Sometimes ego gets in the way of pride. And Texas has lots of it, both ego and pride.

It certainly was not my intention to clutter up your board. I do admit to making a post praising the astute efforts of Jimmy Sexton. If the owners of the board feels that it is appropriate to consolidate that post or any others with a single post, I would be supportive of that idea.

I promise you. There is no underhanded attempt to negatively poke any Alabama fans on this board. I'm sorry if that was the impression that I gave off. I was only reporting what is the mood and feeling of Texas fans in Austin over the course of this emotional roller-coaster weekend.

It's always interesting to me to hear the perspectives and opinions from a fan of another team. You seem like a well-intentioned guy :) I value a good discussion.

Hope y'all can get a good coach in there. That's a tough gig to have.

My thoughts on it goes like this why after watching what has gone on behind Mack's back would any coach worth anything want to jump in the middle of that dumpster fire that is texas ,I mean come on now get real your fan base is so full of themselves its
not even funny.:rofl::blah_1_many2::moon3::beer-me:
