šŸˆ Rumor regarding Julio Jones and Mark Ingram

Good grief, it's like the whole Bill Clinton "it depends on what the definition of is, is" thing with you two.

Anyway, I am beyond tired of the off-the-field crap that seems to arise every other month. This whole episode is beyond ridiculous and is another glaring example of everything that is wrong with the NCAA. Although I don't think there was malice intended from any parties involved in this situation, I think it shows how easy it would be for a rival to frame his/her rival school.

Couldn't agree more.

Fair enough, it just seemed a bit early to be even talking of kicking them off the team.

Hey, I don't want to kick them off the team. But IF they do things that will get us put on probation, banned from bowls, off TV, then I can't imagine an Alabama fan that wouldn't want them off the team.

I see what you're saying. I also agree with ya.

Sorry if I came off as an ass earlier. It's been a loooong morning.

If they do get punished, itll probably happen between now and and the start of the seaoon. Id imagine that, or maybe for a cupcake game. A suspension for the VT game would be a puishment that far outweighed the crime, and would probably hurt the teams chances in the game.

And that would be crazy pants dumb, and CNS isnt that.

Here's what you have to consider when you start talking about suspensions.

If it's an institutional matter, like breaking team rules, those suspensions can be applied at any time up to the coaching staff's discretion.

However, when you enter the world of "amateur status," that falls into the same type of circles as talking to agents, etc.

That, while the suspensions are much the same, fall under things outside of this being an institutional matter.

I'm talking about how the NCAA works.

BUT, I AM NOT saying this is going to be a NCAA matter. I'm just trying to separate the two in terms of suspensions.

I see, well its not like I am well versed in all of the buerocratic jumbo the NCAA puts everyone through. But from the situation you described, it doesnt sound like there should be much of an issue, unless the NCAA wanted to be really anal about it.

Is there any precedent for suspending player a couple of games into the season rather than the opener for problems during the off season? Just curious.

Shula pulled this stunt a few years back (his last year I believe), where he meted out one game suspensions to one or two players at a time over the first three or four games.

Remember Juan Garth/Simpson and his sitting out some cup-cake game about three games deep into the season?

It is not a precedent that was particularly honorable at the time and should not be repeated.
