šŸˆ RTB Judges. Targeting? (Vandy v UofSC.) A couple of things at play here.

I'm not throwing the flag. Incidental contact if you're being picky.

A second note here. Beamer is upset and it's easy to see why. If the officials are telling the players "go," you can't have some dweeb in an office calling for a replay when the play is in progress.

What's crazy about this game and that situation? An ACC official quit just this past week because they did the same thing to him Saturday, a week ago. A late replay called effected possession and the score.

Now, targeting? Did they also wipe a score off the board?

It's targeting, and it should have been called sooner.

In the ACC game last week, the point was made that the on-field official can ignore the buzzer if they feel that it is too late and that the play is beginning. I don't know if that's an ACC rule or NCAA, so I don't know if the SEC officials have the same option or not.

If that was targeting, then they should have penalized the A&M kid who was carted off (I never heard an update BTW if any of you know....)
- he led with his head on the tackle.
Based on the current rules surrounding QBs, the majority of a QBs team should be arrested after he makes a big play. They slap the shit out of his helmet in excitement. If a defender touches the dude's helmet during play, it's an automatic penalty.
Also, why can a running back punch the defender's facemask (stiff arm) & it's a great play, but if a defender does it, it's illegal hands to the face?

Terrible call the officiating in college football continues to be in decline.
It's everywhere. I was photographing a HS game Friday night. 1st & goal. Tackle & Tight End double team the DE & drive him 2 yards out of the endzone (think "Blindside"). The official throws his flag & then blows the whistle (1st whistle blown during the play). I asked him a couple of minutes later why he flagged them - the play was ongoing. He said they blocked the guy too far! That they didn't have to block him that far.
I haven't seen that in the rules book.
All I was thinking was that my HS coach would have kicked my ass if I let up before the whistle ( ask @UAgrad93 lol)

BTW - I got some great shots of the double team!

Didn't Bama have a play last weekend that after the play the Ref. all for a replay for the last play? if not them it may have been a pro game? Sorry I just can't remember which one.

Coach was definitely going to get on your ass if you ever let up! 100% effort THROUGH the whistle!! Not to the whistle!

According to interweb:

In the NCAA, a defenseless player is one who is especially vulnerable to injury due to their physical position or focus. Examples include quarterbacks in a passing posture, receivers attempting to catch a pass or having just completed one, kickers, players on the ground, and any player after a change of possession

I said at the time on the game thread page that it was a pretty weak hit... why they waited 2 or 3 minute to throw the flag, I have no clue, other than they realized his injury was likely from being concussed, so they went back and reviewed it. I don't have a problem with the flag as much as the timing. But if you were watching the game, it didn't really matter.... even if Carlina scores on that play that was blown dead, they were sunk without Sellers. Dody wasn't pulling that win off.

Did the injury have anything to do with how the game was going in your opinion?
