🏈 Rotating DB's - Why is it never done?

Not just us, but I can't remember ever seeing a defense try a DB rotation.

Against the HUNH teams that can really score, every game we've lost the DB's have been picked on towards end of games. Physically & mentally exhausted. Every team including us rotates WR's in and out all game... You'll see the QB overthrow them on a deep ball and immiediately head for the sidelines tapping helmets due to being winded... While the CB who ran the same distance goes back to line up against his fresh replacement.

I understand rotating in between plays would be difficult, but why not a series here and there? Just too much to ask them to tackle in space, chase receivers, bump & run, set edges all game long when a team is running 99 offensive plays. Blows my mind that with all the talent on the sideline they wouldn't want to have fresh players to finish.

I'm assumming communication and chemistry in the back end is huge. But is it worth having exhausted guys out there in the biggest moments? Averette had succombed to fatigure early in the 3d quarter and became a wet paper towel... When fresh early on he was awesome. Harrison got blown the F up a few times in run support, just didn't look as strong as normal.

If mentioned this in other threads so I apologize for repeating, but think it's a great topic.

Players get in a groove and can start to see tells by the receivers. If a DB has had to run excessively on multiple plays, CNS does rotate them (depending on the player). But, the depth isn't great and putting a #2 in could signal the opponent to target that DB with their #1 receiver.

It's a chess match and each piece moves differently.

I mean... Not really. The offense interchanges their pieces and the secondary, ours for sure, stays the same (besides actual packages).

I bet you Humphrey and Averette played every single defensive play.

Valid point that they can get tell's... But the O coordinators also stock the CB's. Either way, why not let our 2's guard their 2's?

Just seems like there needs to be adjustment/evolution when the secondary wears down that early. They got abused last year as well.
