šŸˆ Rogers column: Reeling Razorbacks next up for Tide

That loss was part of a four-game losing streak that ended the regular season.

Also, that Alabama team’s talent looked quite a bit different than the group that takes the field today. Remember, no Tide players were taken in the 2008 NFL draft. It was a long time ago, an era separated by two national championships. That team went 6-6 in the regular season. Since the 2007 campaign, Alabama is 50-6.

So Saban knows a thing or two about rebounding from the kind of loss Arkansas just took. It’ll be interesting to hear his thoughts on that subject at the press conference today.

The Razorbacks led 28-7 at one point Saturday night. It’s not like they didn’t show up. But when quarterback Tyler Wilson got his bell rung and left the game late in the first half, the Hogs’ intensity seemingly went with him. Certainly, they know who is coming to Fayetteville this week. They haven’t beaten Alabama in six years.

As for the Tide, Saban saw plenty of things to work on, without having to suffer the consequences of a shocking upset. Alabama rushed for just over 100 yards. Its proud offensive line saw quarterback AJ McCarron sacked six times. Six.

The defense forced four turnovers, including three fumbles in the first half. It was the most fumbles the Tide defense has recovered in a game since Western Carolina kicked off the Nick Saban era in 2007.
That helped the Tide not give up any points. However, it did yield 14 first downs – five of those in third-down situations.
