🏈 Robert Lester---Very Puzzling

The secondary as a whole has missed on several interception opportunities. Some were not their fault. Others were dropped. I would like to see more picks but we're not halfway in the season yet either so...

I can explain. robert lester was right place right time last year. He is not a very cover man and probably worse individual open field tackler on team btw. none of those interceptions were because of skill.

Wouldn't worry too much about it, his play speaks for itself. However, he did have 2 INT's on back to back plays against Penn State, only to have them overturned.

He's definitely a ball-hawk, and Saban/Smart allows him to kinda play like a center-fielder a lot of times.

I remember when he committed to us, a lot of people had that impression that he was just coming along as a package deal with Julio. You think Saban saw a little bit more than that in him? He sure has been a nice pickup. We really have had a good bit of talented DB's not work out for one reason or another the last couple of years. Woodson and Green come to mind. Saban just keeps rolling in the talent and teaching them up.

Sorry - I couldn't disagree more with you. Robert Lester has plenty, I mean plenty, of skill. Not many safeties do have great man-on-man cover skill. That's why they're at safety and not CB. This pertains to Mark Barron as well.

How many times have teams thrown down field against Bama? Until the try to throw down field, or have the time to throw down field, the safeties aren't going to have many interceptions.

This I agree with, I've complained about that quiet a bit. It hasnt just been DBs tho, several LBs have dropped potential picks. Dont know what the deal there is. Ill take a deflected pass over a completed pass to the receiver any day tho, but they def. have to start makin those plays.

You get the "ridiculous comment of the day" award. Im glad you know more than NFL scouts, analysts, and our coaching staff... Damn, if you know more than Saban why is he coaching Bama and you're posting on a message board?

So what do you get award for Jackass of the day. I watch every game. Robert Lester is the weakest link in the secondary

seriously take away the 8 interceptions (which nfl scouts are focusing on) and you have a guy that misses tackles tries to arm tackle and gets blocked out of most plays. lester has 9 tackles on the season. dead last in the sec for starting safties. i am telling you if you take away the 8 interceptions last year. Lester is unknown. BTW Will Lowry backup safety has 14 tackles 9 solo. lester has 4 solo.

Usually, if a safety has the least amount of tackles on your team, this is a good thing. And if Lester is getting blocked, as a safety, the other team is more than likely missing some blocking assignments or doing something wrong.

And if you're attempting to say that Will Lowry is better than Lester, your argument is only getting more ridiculous.

And BTW, don't give me this "take away the 8 INT's"...because it happened. That doesn't just happen by him stepping on the field with a blindfold on. It's takes skill to do that.

his interceptions didn't come from jumping the routes. it was over throws across the middle or short passes where he was just there. have you actually watched his film. I mean sure a couple of those are skill related. and your right about the safety haveing least amount of tackles. I am not saying Lowry is better but can you tell me why Lowry in limited min has that many more?

Admittedly, I haven't paid attention to his tackling but being in the right place at the right time (on multiple occasions) is much more than luck. Part of a safeties job is to watch the QB & to move where they expect him to throw. Lester is pretty good with the anticipation of the throw (which leads to interceptions)...THAT is why NFL scouts are watching him. As far as the his tackling ability vs Lowery, I'm not trying to discredit your evaluation of the tackling, but CNS gets to see these guys in practice, which has as much if not more of an impact on who is more capable.
