🏈 Robbie Green suspended

I get that people have a strong stance on marijuana - a whole other topic.

but how can he be suspended for a year by the NCAA for this, but others do things that are in my opinion way worse - example, Blount punching another player, Carlos Dunlap suspended for ONE game for a DUI. seriously, how the hell do you pay a YEAR price for smoking out but others pay so little price.

maybe, just maybe, he didn't inhale...

Green has tons of talent but never impressed me. He's cocky when he makes a play & usually he hasn't done anything special other than what he is supposed to do. If he is smoking that junk then he needs to be kicked off the team.

and the bashing begins...

bad mistake if he was smoking the green but good lord, lets not throw him under the bus for smoking weed. this should get the same punishment that one would get for say a DUI (equally illegal yet wont kill u like drinking and driving). but to say he should be kicked off the team for ONE mistake, thats retarded.

I'm not bashing the kid at all, but toleration of marijuana will eventually lead to stronger substances IMHO. I have a friend that started out that way with a little weed and it eventually graduated to cocaine and almost killed him. He is a recovering addict. If Robbie was smoking the weed and failed a test, we have to get him straightened out or we will lose him.

I always hear that marijuana is a gateway drug...but I know many who have done it for years and years and have never even entertained the thought of doing something hard. There's someone here and there who went down that path...but I can honestly tell you it wasn't from anything marijuana did but from their own curiousness. You have to look no further than the country of Holland to see this. In Holland ever since the legalization of marijuana, the use of hard drugs such as cocaine or heroine have gone down substantially. I'm not trying to push anyone's buttons...but I find it laughable that marijuana is illegal yet alcohol, a far more dangerous substance, isn't.

I will even tell you that I myself used to partake in pot smoking. I never once had the urge to "graduate." I no longer do it, and it wasn't hard to quit.

Regardless, it can have effects and shouldn't be done by anyone looking to have a career in professional sports. Hopefully he'll have his punishment and learn from it.

It is the PERSON that makes the choice to do the drugs or take that drink. Taking one does not lead you to doing anything else. I know plenty of people who have never advanced past mary jane.It is the opportunities that are presented and the strength and will power it takes to NOT DO IT, what ever it may be. Quit blaming the drugs, they do not sell or do themselves. Are people really clueless to the actual people that just smoke marijuana? Beer/Alch is just as/if not more destructive to everything around it. A girl I dated on and off in HS died the other day,35. It was not marijuana that killed her. Alchy. I have had many friends die around me because of both. Two sides to each coin but the one leads to another is old and played out in my mind. He did something he is not suppose to, and got caught. He needs to pay the price and go from there. People need to stop blaming everything around them and take a closer look at themselves/and the people around them and the choices that are made.

On another note,
A year is a little harsh, but I see why and where they are coming from. Hope that is not the case, if that is true. No time to read after posting this. lol RTR

It kicked me off and I had to log back on...to find Bamacore said it perfect, but I will post anyway.

This.

I agree that it is the curiousity that causes one to "graduate" from pot to the stronger drugs. I also agree about the alcohol as well. I just want the kid to get things straightened out if that is the case with failing a drug test before his curiousity gets to him. I imagine that a year won't be the length of his suspension, rather adequate time to go through a treatment or counseling program which would extend beyond the Spring practice schedule.
