šŸŒŽ RMNP Photo dump...

Outstanding photos. I missed out on getting permits to both The Enchantments and the Grand Teton Loop Trail this year. That spawned the idea for the Scotland hike. My wife is back on the idea of getting an RV, not sure how that will play out. If it happens, I'm going to be pushing for the some extended road trips during shoulder seasons.

My wife has brought up the RV thing a few times in recent years... While it would make sense for a lot of the travel we like to do, I have zero desire to drive one around the country.

Man I've loved it. When you stay a lot more than you drive it's great. It's not like trying to fit everything into a week of vacation. We drive 300 miles then stay at least a week. Stay 6 weeks in alabama in spring and 6 weeks in fall and 4 months in key west then travel for 4 to 5 months. So it's not like driving everyday and moving constantly. Highly recommend as a way to see the country.
Been full time for 4 years so if you have any questions let me know.

That's why we've focused on the Class B units, particularly the Winnebago Travato. Last year, we were set to rent a Travato and the renter cancelled on us at the last minute and we had to settle for a Solis. Same Ram 3500 platform, but completely different setup with a high platform bed. I drove it from Atlanta to Highliands, NC. We stayed in a really nice little RV park within walking distance of downtown, but we also drove it over to Cashiers, and to some other sights/dining in the mountains. It was extremely easy to drive, even on those steep mountain roads, and it'll fit in most normal parking spots. It's compact, to say the least, and high bed and bathroom setup turned us off. She's now interested again and we're going to try to rent a Travato 59K again and give it another assessment. The wet bath setup is a sacrifice, but I broke down and got a Planet Fitness membership, so we can stop at over 2,000 of those around the country for a workout - or just a shower if we choose.

As @Krimson has noted, if you have a towable - or a tow vehicle - you create a base of operations and move less often.

RTR,

Tim
