Yes, he's been a refreshing voice for some time. His comic strip has affected me almost as much as Calvin and Hobbes, and I've read several of his books.
He hits on a good theme, one that's been illuminated by many bright folks. Only a little different tilt, an expert in one area might be dangerous as they enter other areas or seek to be a generalist. Just because you are hell on wheels with infectious diseases, you may suck at economics. A commercial real estate developer might make, I don't know, a shitty president. A community organizer might be a better liar than a commercial RE developer (after the CRE developers I've known, I thought that was a stretch). For the record, I said "better", not more prolific.
We all have our little corners of expertise. For mine, I'm aghast at how ignorant and misguided our elected officials are when trying to understand, consider, regulate and deregulate it. I was involved in an issue that ended up being subject to Congressional hearings, and it was nothing about the substance and all about the posturing.
