All of the sudden, the coaching carousel in the SEC is spinning wildly.

Earlier today, Arkansas announced that it had hired away Central Michigan head coach Dan Enos to be its offensive coordinator. A short time later, multiple media outlets reported that Tennessee had gone in the opposite direction and lost its coordinator on that side of the ball.

Bruce Feldman of FOXSports.com first reported that Tennessee coordinator Mike Bajakian was leaving to pursue ā€œother coaching opportunities.ā€ Subsequently, VolQuest.com and SI.comā€˜s Thayer Evans reported that Bajakian was leaving to become the quarterbacks coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Nothing is official, however, and there appears to still be an opportunity for some symmetry amongst today’s SEC coaching developments. From FootballScoop.com:

Fox Sports is reporting that offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian is leaving to ā€œpursue other coaching opportunitiesā€. We can confirm this and add, per sources, Bajakian has been offered a very appealing NFL job; with this morning’s news regarding Central Michigan, a job Bajakian was in the running for when Dan Enos was hired, this might change things. Based on what we have heard, we would expect this to play out in the next 24-48 hours.

Bajakian has spent the past two seasons as the Vols coordinator. His last — and only — NFL job came as an offensive quality control assistant with the Chicago Bears in 2004-06.

UPDATED 1:36 p.m. ET: ESPN.com has confirmed that, while Barjakian is indeed leaving Tennessee, he’s currently mulling opportunities from Central Michigan and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If Barjakian takes the CMU job, that would be an interesting turn of events.

I saw a few mention the numbers yesterday and it was suggested that Enos would almost be doubling his salary in making the move to Knoxville. I guess the opposite would be true as well?
