🏈 Report: Brandon Spikes Suspended for One Half

What impression is the SEC engineering for the youth who appear in their commercial? Seek to injure someone and you'll get a "timeout", the six year old standing in the corner type of timeout.

Considering the fragile nature of the human eye, I would like to know what steps Spike took to cause the punishment that he may have intended but stop short of blinding that RB for life. For short of being able to answer that question, there is nothing that prevents his actions from being a crime. For this reason I question where the SEC, much less the Coach with a vested interest in seeing his player get away with this, has jurisdiction. Does that RB surrender his rights when he suits up? No. If the even had happened in the parking lot after the came, everything would be handled differently.

Explain to me why everyteam would not sacrifice their worst player to be the "enforcer" to blind the opposing QB, at the expense of losing that irrelevant player for twqo quarters. It is not just what the SEC has encouraged?

Seriously, does someone have to be blinded for life first before the right thing is done?

Let me get this straight, if you sucker-punch a Boise State player for mouthing off after a game, you get suspended for the entire season. But trying to blind the opposing quarterback's during a game gets you suspended for a half? And we wonder why SEC conspiracy theories run rampant.

Quarterback? I can hear it now, Spikes tried to take the QB's eye out...good thing the QB wasn't involved in the play :)

he just suspended himself for the whole game

I guess Vandy won't be needing these now.

I've followed this story since the first sounds began on Sunday. Meyer might indeed have brought some attention upon himself with the Commish, but he's too big of a fish to suspend. My thought is that if this was Kiffin or another REPEAT offender coach, such as Miss State's guy or Johnson at Vandy, there would be a suspension. But you don't mess with the big boys (Meyer or Saban, Spurrier, maybe even Nutt). Everyone else is too small of a fish to think they can get away with it. Brooks up at UK is too old and wise to push his luck, though he's made some comments too. Petrino and Kiffin would get smacked down, as would Johnson at Vandy. Not sure about Richt. Heck, Richt doesn't complain about anything, which is why he's getting his butt kicked this year if you ask me.

In my opinion that was Urban stroking his ego a bit showing the rest " they won't suspend me" I hope her gets suspended though. can't follow the rules you should pay the price... big fish or not
