NEW YORK, February 1, 2017 -- CBS Sports Digital today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Scout Media. Scout will become part of CBS Sports Digital’s multi-platform offerings, which include CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports apps for mobile and connected TV devices, as well as 247Sports, MaxPreps, CBS Sports fantasy games, and SportsLine. Scout’s team-focused and recruiting coverage will complement 247Sports’ already industry-leading network of college and pro team sites and its subscription recruiting information services.

“We are very pleased to bring Scout Media into the CBS Sports Digital family and add their portfolio of team coverage to our premium, team-focused content offerings driven by 247Sports,” said Jeffrey Gerttula, Senior Vice President and General Manager, CBS Sports Digital. “This acquisition will fit perfectly into our goal to provide engaging content, from the national to the team level, for sports fans, and will enable us to deliver more value to individual team fanbases across all screens and devices, as well as create exciting cross-platform advertising opportunities.”

CBS Sports Digital ended 2016 as the fastest-growing top ten digital sports property, according to comScore, with 247Sports driving 43% growth over 2015 in average monthly uniques. CBS Sports Digital acquired 247Sports in January 2016, following a partnership that began in 2013 to integrate 247Sports’ premium football and basketball recruiting content into CBS Sports coverage across digital platforms.

“Our robust team-focused model, featuring a deep roster of national and regional insiders and analysts, will now be even stronger with the addition of Scout,” said Shannon Terry, founder and CEO of 247Sports. “Scout’s talented group of publishers and highly engaging, team-specific content will be a significant asset as we continue to grow and expand our audience of passionate fans and deliver a more extensive product offering to our members.”

Scout will be the latest addition to CBS Interactive's portfolio of premium brands. CBS Interactive, a division of CBS Corporation, is the world's largest publisher of premium digital content and a perennial top 10 Internet company. CBS Interactive's brands span popular categories like technology, entertainment, sports, news and gaming. Properties include the websites, apps and streaming services of the CBS Television Network such as the CBS All Access subscription service, the digital streaming news service CBSN, and CBS Sports’ digital brands as well as digital-first properties in key content verticals, including CNET, TVGuide.com, GameSpot, Metacritic and Chowhound.

He tweeted something cryptic about 247 and Scout a few days ago before the news hit, figured something was going on...can't find the tweet I'm referring to, perhaps he deleted it.

While searching this one seems a bit more telling.
