🏈 Reggie Ragland & Jarran Reed return for senior year.

Just minutes after Ohio State's Cardale Jones nationally-televised announcement, a potential Alabama draft entry announced his decision with a little less fanfare.

Linebacker Reggie Ragland announced on Twitter he plans to return for his senior season.

"I've decided to come back for my senior season! Roll Tide!!!" Ragland tweeted at 3:36 p.m. Thursday.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Thursday. The NFL will publish the official list on Monday.

Earlier Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reported Ragland's teammate Jarran Reed also planned to return to Alabama for his senior season.

A former top-recruit, Ragland made a big impact in his first season starting at Alabama. The team's second-leading tackler finished with 95 stops, trailing only draft entrant Landon Collins' 103.

Ragland earned a reputation as one of the hardest hitting players on the field. He forced a high-pop fumble in the Tennessee game with a shot on quarterback Josh Dobbs. He also hit Ohio State's Jalin Marshall hard enough to knock the helmet from his head in the Sugar Bowl.

Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland and defensive lineman Jarran Reed announced on Thursday they will return for their senior seasons at the Capstone in 2015 after choosing to bypass early entry into the NFL Draft.

"I've thought a lot about this decision and talked to my family, Coach Saban, and everyone close to me," Ragland said. "I'm going to return to the University of Alabama for my senior season. One of the big factors for me and my family is earning my degree and I'm on track to graduate. You only form a brotherhood like this once and I look forward to spending another season here with my teammates. Roll Tide."

Ragland, from Madison, Ala., was second on the team in 2014 with 95 tackles, including 10.5 tackles for loss (-27 yards), 1.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Reed, a junior college transfer from East Mississippi Community College, led all tacklers on the defensive line with 55 total stops. He registered 6.5 tackles for loss (-14 yards) with one sack and five pass breakups.

"After sitting down with my family, Coach Saban and Coach Davis, I have decided to return to Alabama for my senior year," Reed said. "I am on track to finish my degree and that is very important to me. The chance to play in the NFL is still my dream, but I am excited about another year at Alabama with my teammates. I learned a lot being here last year, and I'm confident another year will only improve my chances to succeed in the future."

Alabama had three players declare for the NFL Draft last week with Landon Collins, Amari Cooper and T.J. Yeldonannouncing their decisions to turn pro.

Nick Saban reeled in two blue-chip recruits Thursday afternoon.

It just so happens both were already in the program.

Junior linebacker Reggie Ragland and junior defensive tackle Jarran Reed both announced they would be back at the University of Alabama for their senior seasons.

Ragland, who finished second on the team in tackles (95), announced his intentions on Twitter, and that was followed shortly thereafter by a release from Alabama that both Ragland and Reed would return for 2015.

Underclassmen had until Thursday at midnight to declare for the NFL Draft. Three UA players - Amari Cooper, Landon Collins and T.J. Weldon - had previously declared.

Getting both players back is a huge boost for the defensive, especially Ragland. With the departure of Trey DePriest, Ragland becomes the most experienced middle linebacker on the roster.

"I've thought a lot about this decision and talked to my family, Coach Saban, and everyone close to me," Ragland said. "I'm going to return to the University of Alabama for my senior season.

"One of the big factors for me and my family is earning my degree and I'm on track to graduate. You only form a brotherhood like this once and I look forward to spending another season here with my teammates. Roll Tide."

Reed, a 6-foot-4, 315-pounder, was a catalyst for the Crimson Tide's defensive line in 2014, leading the linemen with 55 tackles. He also recorded 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack and five pass breakups.

With Reed staying, the defensive line should again be the strength of the Alabama defense.

You can get your degree anytime, strike while the fire is hot if you get the draft grade you need/want.

I haven't seen anything about what kind of grades these guys got back. I assume at least one of them were part of the five allowed.

I'd argue Ragland wouldn't be drafted in the first two rounds. In fact, I don't think he's one of the best two linebackers in the SEC. Wilson, UGA, is probably the best in the conference this year. There's that guy from MSU...McKinney or something like that? He had a heck of a freshman year and did pretty damn well as a sophomore.

I've no clue where Reed might have been picked. It seems like I've read it's a pretty deep draft for defensive linemen.
