🏈 Reggie Bush to forfeit the Heisman.

he was still the most fun to watch that year. I'm mixed on them taking it away from him - I haven't read anywhere that its about being the best character, etc....if that was the case. honestly, is the heisman about what you do on the field or what you do both on and off the field?

I can't help but think, why now Reggie. You've fought this all along and now you give up, makes me think they told him and he had an opportunity to bow our on his own versus them taking it later.

What he did on the field was to pretend to be playing by the rules while breaking them, so I don't see a distinction between "on" or "off the field".

He was the best player that year although........because he broke the rules his season doesn't count and if it doesn't count then he can't win based on his performance that technically never happened.

yeah, still doesn't take away he won it...you could argue Vince won it after the MNC victory that year, but if I were Vince I would respectfully decline it (realizing there is a cost to that down the road potentially). they shouldn't give it to anyone for that year.

Guessing you guys think Pete Rose shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame either....if so, I respectfully disagree.

Whatever "BEST" is, it is presumed that one has to be that on top of other issues that have to be overcome. I'm sure some other player played while coping with financial concerns like Reggie Bush, but Reggie didn't have to. Who it be fair if all didn't have to go to class, or qualify to get in, or pass drug screenings, or turn down $100 handshakes.... "BEST INSPITE OF IT ALL" is what the implied meaning is. And in that context, Reggie cheated, thus should not be eligable.

One man's opinion.

Thing is, Bush gave up the Heisman, not the Trust took it from him. This is Reggie trying to save face after having lied to the NCAA. If he had been forthcoming and truthful, he keeps the trophy and nothing more is said. Vince Young has already chimed in that he would accept it if the Trust decides to give it to him.

I'm sure he didn't give it up because of his own guilty conscience. It's most likely due to pressure from media types, pressure from the Trust, pressure from perhaps a couple of guys in the NFL right now....Just my thoughts. I don't think Reggie Bush is a bad guy by any means. He played the game that is big time football, on the field, and off the field. We've seen this before. Guy is a phenomenal football or basketball player, starts getting wonderful things like cars, houses, women, bling, shown to him by untrustworthy types, gets stars in his eyes, and then falls into the trap. It's a trap that exists because of our hypocritical society and our value placed on the "amateur status" of collegiate athletes.

Oh good Lord...Brandon Cox? I thought they had forgotten about him. Jason Campbell, for one year, and with the help of numerous NFL players on that roster, was probably one of the best QB's that got no media love. I know that was Leinart and Young's year, but man, Campbell did as much in that Auburn attack as anyone. When you've got two running backs who are Heisman material in the backfield (Carnell, Ronnie Brown), the QB just looks that much better. Greg McElroy, you hearing this :D?

I was on the website for the heisman today and read about the trophy. When he says give it back or when the trust says take away the trophy, do they mean symbolically? The website states that a trophy is given to the player that they can keep. This makes it a personal possession. Considering that the heisman trust is not a court of law or a legal organization I assume that this means he will be out of the heisman family and lose all of the rights and privileges of being a winner. The trophy is still his personal possession.
