🏈 Redshirt Freshman LB Shawn Jennings has left Alabama

Redshirt freshman linebacker Shawn Jennings is no longer a member of the Alabama football program, sources told AL.com.

The Dadeville native was a three-star recruit who enrolled at Alabama in January 2016.

His older brother is Crimson Tide redshirt sophomore outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who worked with the first-team defense throughout the spring after making 19 tackles as a redshirt freshman last season.

Based on the wording (not transferring, has left) and the timing (shortly after the end of the semester), my bet is that grades were involved. I wish him well.

Not a shocker. If I remember correctly, I think he was actually a blue-chipper early in the process unlike Anfernee who was more of a sleeper. By the time HS ended though he came back to earth... And Anfernee was a riser.

Injury and position issues never a good mix!! Was hoping he would be one of those coverage LB's that can run and play the pass, but that position is absolutely stacked right now. I guess they all are lol.

More importantly, hopefully this doesn't impact Anfernee going into next year. He appears to be a big time edge guy for us which also means he's soon to be on draft boards. Brute strength and good speed like Upshaw back in the day... Bright future at UA... I'm assuming. RTR
