The University of Alabama has an assistant coach who is a native of Louisiana, Burton Burns, who recruits the Bayou State. He definitely knows the lay of the land. Billy Napier, who returned to the Tide staff in 2013 replacing Mike Groh who took a job with the Chicago Bears, also recruits the north area of the state. Groh was named Rivals.com National Recruiter of the Year in 2013. Napier has stepped in and filled the role without a drop-off on the recruiting trail.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban plays a vital role in ultimately landing top prospects. The assistants are the 'foot soldiers' and spend a lot of time and energy recruiting a very tough area with the success of the LSU program.

Former LSU head coach, Nick Saban, had a lot to do with closing off the borders from other powerhouse programs. LSU head coach Les Miles has also done a superb job of limiting the top prospects from venturing outside their home state. Alabama is probably the one school making a noticeable impact. The Tide has lured several top prospects away from Louisiana or been in a player's top two. The success has been seen more in this year's class.

Alabama has reeled in commitments from Cameron Robinson, five-star offensive tackle from West Monroe High School, Cameron Sims, four-star wide receiver from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, and O.J. Smith, three-star defensive tackle from Airline High School in Bossier City. Robinson was the only one who chose Alabama over LSU.

"I hope to see a great game," Robinson told Rivals.com. "Two great teams squaring off. Of coure I want to see Alabama come away with a W. Two great teams. I just hope to see a great game."

Alabama hopes to sign another top target in the Monroe area.Laurence Jones, Rivals100 safety from Neville High School, will travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday for an unofficial visit. He will take an official visit to LSU on November 25 before announcing his decision between the two programs on November 27. 'Hootie' is torn between the SEC rivals. He has yet to give one school the edge for his signature. Will Alabama receive an official visit after his announcement? Time will tell..

There are plenty of other top players who are seen by the coaches. Burns, Alabama's running backs coach, is in charge of the south part of the state which includes New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Coach Burns has the task of recruiting Leonard Fournette, five-star running back from St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. Fournette is one of the best running back prospects to come out of high school in the past 10 years. The Tide signed a remarkable running back class in 2013. Fournette would have been the No. 1 player on the board last year. He's 6-foot-1, 230-pounds of strength, speed, power and vision.

Fournette likes to keep a very low profile and doesn't take many visits. He gives typical responses when asked about programs. He hasn't given out a list of favorites in a while or named where he will take official visits. Alabama and LSU are considered the strong contenders. The Tigers are probably in the best shape to land the No. 1 back, but Alabama hasn't given up its recruiting efforts. Fournette will attend the Alabama/LSU game and expected to return to Tuscaloosa after the season for an official visit. He may announce at the Under Armour game in January or likely wait until signing day in February.

LSU offers scholarships to players in Alabama, but not as much as the Tide is in Louisiana. Alabama offered several Tiger commitments including William Clapp, four-star offensive lineman from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Garrett Brumfield, four-star offensive guard from University Lab School in Baton Rouge, Davon Godchaux, four-star defensive end from Plaquemine High School, andJacory Washington, four-star tight end from Westlake High School. Washington will visit Alabama this weekend.

The Tide also expressed heavy interest in Brandon Harris, four-star quarterback from Parkway High School in Bossier City. Harris did not attend Alabama's camp in June when David Cornwell earned the official offer from Nick Saban.

The Tigers, much like Alabama, are off to a hot start in the 2015 class. Kevin Toliver, five-star cornerback from Trinity Christian in Jacksonville, Fla., and Nicholas Brossette, four-star running back from University Lab School in Baton Rouge, are already committed to the Tigers. They also have offers from Alabama. Dylan Moses, 2017 athlete from University Lab School, committed to LSU in late September. Moses made national news when Alabama offered a scholarship in the spring.

Alabama sits with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2014. It's a position the Tide has kept every year since 2008 except in 2010 when UA finished No. 5.

LSU finished with the No. 1 class in 2003 when Nick Saban was the head coach. The Tigers normally rank inside the top 10 with its highest finish coming in 2009 at No. 2 with head coach Les Miles. Several high profile prospects in that class came from outside the state. They also landed several top in-state prospects currently in the NFL including Morris Claiborne, Barkevious Mingo and Reuben Randle. LSU will need to depend on the in-state prospects in this class for the Tigers to challenge Alabama for the top spot.

LSU leads for a high majority of its key targets including Fournette. It will surprise many if Malachi Dupre, five-star wide receiver from John Curtis in River Ridge, La., leaves the state. Teammate Speedy Noil, Rivals100 wide receiver, and Gerald Willis, Rivals100 defensive end from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, have the Tigers high on their list. Alabama has expressed heavy interest in all three prospects. Dupre lists his top three as LSU, UCLA and Texas A&M. Willis has a top three of Florida, LSU and Texas A&M. Noil has high interest in LSU and Florida. He has also taken an official visit to Texas A&M.

Tony Brown, five-star cornerback from Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas, is a key target for Alabama and LSU. He will take his official visit to Alabama this weekend.

Brown can certainly help LSU challenge Alabama for the No. 1 ranking if he decides to follow his sister who signed a track scholarship with LSU in 2013. Brown plans to play football and run track. Most believe LSU and Texas A&M have the upper hand for the elite prospect.

The Tide and Tigers are also heavily recruiting several in the 2015 class including T.D. Moton, four-star defensive tackle from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport,Derrius Guice, four-star running back from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, and Daylon Charlot, four-star wide receiver from Patterson High School.

Devin White, 2016 running back from North Webster High School in Springhill, La., will attend the game on Saturday. He has offers from Alabama and LSU.

Take a look at the players who sprinkle the team rosters who left their home state to play for the Tide or Tigers.
Alabama:
Kenny Bell, senior wide receiver from Rayville High School
Cody Mandell, senior punter from Acadiana High School in Lafayette
Landon Collins, sophomore safety from Dutchtown High School in Geismar
Denzel Devall, sophomore linebacker from Bastrop High School
Bradley Sylve, sophomore defensive back from South Plaquemines High School in Port Sulphur
Raheem Falkins, freshman wide receiver from Carver High School in New Orleans
Tim Williams, freshman linebacker from University Lab in Baton Rouge

LSU:
Connor Neighbors, senior fullback from Huntsville High School
Josh Williford, junior offensive tackle from Houston Academy in Dothan
Logan Stokes, junior tight end from Muscle Shoals High School
Kwon Alexander, sophomore linebacker from Oxford High School
Stephen Rivers, redshirt sophomore quarterback from Athens High School

Alabama vs. LSU. Nick Saban vs. Les Miles. The recruiting rivalry off the field will continue with plenty of highly, talented stars to decide between the two SEC-West programs.
