wth does a merchandise site have to do with anything regarding another school'd head coach?

i mean, do they have a vested interest in anything done by another school or someone else's coach? did they lose sales due to something another school did or their head coach said?

poor guys. maybe we should buy them some pacifiers so can suck on those instead of the obvious sour grapes they're currently on.

I know I'm going to paint with a broad brush here, but I remember how butt-hurt we were when the NCAA caught us with our hand in the cookie jar. Remember all the huff by Tommy Gallion and going to "Pop the Fat Bastard" that is Phil Fulmer? Granted there are a lot of differences, but bottom line is we cheated and had to pay the piper. (were we set up, yes!!) I still don't know how every school recruiting Albert Means was told to back off except Bama and Kentucky. What 2 schools got in trouble over Albert Means? Bama and Kentucky. I digress.

All that said, Ole Piss is butt-hurt and trying any and all means possible to lessen their sentence and blame everyone else for being caught. It is what it is. This lawsuit, IMO, is nothing but a waste of time and going to make some lawyers some money and give them a little publicity. In the words of Lane Kiffen, "there is no such thing as bad publicity".

I remember another guy that owned a car dealership in Chattanooga that sued the NCAA for referring to him as an Alabama rogue booster. That NCAA lawsuit created the infamous subpoena being served on fat phil.

What is the venue of the suit?
Never mind found it. Circuit Court Lafayette County Mississippi. This will be interesting. Home cooking with jurisdiction issues and an attorney attempting to build his reputation.
I heard an interview with Bo Bounds yesterday where he (and another caller who is an OM fan) said the venue location was still left to be determined and it was in front of the MS Supreme Court. According to what the OM caller/lawyer said the venue was set, then challenged/appealed...and now it's in the hands of the upper courts.

One reason there hasn't been any depositions set, or heard, so far is the actual venue is left to be decided.

Another thing to consider here is the statute of limitations on slander/libel suits. IF there's no action taken (IE: venue set, etc.) they (plaintiffs) would have to refile. Part of what Feldman is reporting could be standard procedure and really nothing new.

All that said ... I'm not a lawyer. I know where a HIX is, but I don't stay here.

This particular area of the law is not my specialty but suffice it to say nobody is doing this work on a percentage basis.

Now you are in my wheelhouse and there is very little carryover from criminal to civil. Civil deposition driven, criminal jury trial driven. Vast difference.
Just for clarity's sake...

I heard he was a criminal defense attorney from a guy who was claiming to be a lawyer with an Ole Miss pedigree. His call to Finebaum was meant to address the comments Bo Bounds had made earlier in his show. It was that attorney who said he was one of the best in the state of Mississippi.

I've not looked up past article about Rebel Rags but my gut tells me the attorney's name has been published.

When I heard that mentioned it didn't make a lot of sense to me. Like you've mentioned, I didn't see how there would be a carry-over from criminal to civil court. In fact, it led me to think this is more about the show than it is about actually winning: just a guess there. While I don't know this I suspect the two have a prior relationship through Ole Miss.

That said, if I were looking for a lawyer to depose someone I'd think a criminal defense lawyer would do an admirable job.
