starter: Roy Upchurch; runs hard and fast, also will have an edge over ingram in that he's a senior(did you see that game against tennessee he had?)

who he'll be splitting time with: Ingram & maybe some minutes for Mr. Richardson.

i like Roy and yes he does run hard and fast, but i'd be surprised if anyone other than Mark Ingram were the starter come fall. Roy and Mark will both get plenty of carries if Roy recovers from what was going on with his neck and doesn't reinjure the same thing. Trent may get clean-up duty or a redshirt. I'm pulling for a redshirt.

Matchett and Griffin also may get some carries.

do you think the injury would affect his mentality at all? and if so to what extent?
and i thought griffin was a fullback

I'd almost be willing to bet Trent gets about the same number of carries Mark had this past season.

Simply put, a redshirt year ain't happening unless some freak injury occurs.

Ditto. Richardson will get plenty of carries. If anything, Upchurch will be on the outside looking in.

i would say Mark Ingram will be in the roll that Coffee was this past year with Richardson in the role that Ingram was in. Upchurch will still play like he did this past year before the injury if he is able to.

Richardson starts from day one. We haven't had a RB of this caliber come in for a LONG time. So we don't know how to react to depth charts. Richardson all the way.

That's true. From what I understand TR will make it interesting for #1 on the depth chart. From what I have seen in 2 years coach Saban plays the best player....regardless of class status. Either way let's hope coach Pendry gets our O line ready for whats running behind them! I think they will.

This is a nice problem to have huh?

Depending on hoe Roy's body reacts to the surgery, he could possibly be on a "medical redshirt" and never see the field. No way a redshirt goes on TR. I look for TR to get the same number of carries as Ingram did last year if not more. The stable is full of alot of young thoroughbreads that need to get out and run.

to start the year:
Ingram
Richardson
Upchurch (if he's healthy)

I'm also looking at Matchett to make some noise. I've been accused of having a mancrush on the kid since before he committed. This may not be the year though. It will be between him and Griffin IMO to see who gets the last of the cleanup. Some will argue for Preyear. I've just never been that high on Goode for some reason.

One thing to note is that Ingram is an EXTREMELY intelligent kid and will be a vocal leader on the team even as a sophomore. I think Trent is more of a lead by example kinda guy. They will share the load pretty evenly if you ask me.

My dream depth:
Trent Richardson
Mark Ingram
Ivan Matchett

p.s. Outside of an injury, NO WAY that Richardson redshirts. He'll only be on campus for 3 years. Why waste one?

;scr never heard of a dream depth chart before. why do you care who ends up first string, second string, third string, etc.?

haha. Because I have favorite players and Ivan Matchett is one of them. I care about the depth because I think it's a given that Richardson and Ingram are going to get the bulk of the carries... so my hope (or "dream depth chart") is that Matchett can at least crack the 3-deep.

I'm happy that we have so much quality at the position.

Same here. An injury or two would have depleted our depth a few years ago. Although we still had options, I think it hurt us some this year when we lost Upchurch - any recent word on his rehab?

Ingram
Upchurch
Richardson
Griffin
Matchett
Preyear
Lacy
Goode
Grant

I would think redshirts would be in order for some of these guys, but the cupboard sure looks well stocked.

Tim

God, I hope they move
Grant. He had so much promise
coming in, and it's almost like
everybody forgot he was still there.
if i'm him, I'm showing Coach Saban
what i can do as a slot back. He could
be compared with Jeffrey Demps if our
offense uses him the way they should.
