I tend to listen to ESPNradio.com at work most of the day. I caught a comment yesterday that was along the lines of MS being considered for the Baylor coaching job.

That seems to me to be a great fit for Shula. He does have a talent for the living room talks with parents although one has to question how he is in talent evaluation. (still left to be determined IMO)

As slack as he was when he was on campus here I still don't find myself holding "ill-will" against the man. I know his dad has ran his mouth a lot, but I can't hold that against Mike.

We'll see if it goes any further.

Baylor would be a great fit for a Catholic  ...just kidding!

I assume they hire from outside the family as well. I agree Terry. I think Baylor would be great for Mike. The pressure would be zero, and the parents would love someone like him.

He would be good enough, and if not they change coaches every few years anyway.

I think Shula will be a great coach.. He needs to get out of his NFL thinking of letting kids discipline themselves, but once he figures that out it should be smooth sailing with him. IF he doesn't figure that out, he will still be a great fit in the NFL someday.

If it's true, I wish him all the luck in the world (being a Baptist myself :D ).

Maybe dem Babtiss boys out dere kin convert him! Just kiddin', y'all.

I wish Mike the best. As Terry said, Don Shula has spouted his mouth off quite a bit, but I've never heard of Mike speaking an ill word towards or about Alabama.

As for how he would/will do at Baylor, I'm not sure. Expectations will definately be a lot less, but I still don't think his coaching style is a fit for college football. Call me crazy, but I think he could actually do well as an NFL HC. His philosophies and style fit the NFL game very well.

Given 8-9 years, he may be able to field a team that hits that occasional 8-9 win mark at Baylor.

IF he gets the mental approach on how to handle control of college players, he'd do ok. If he continues to treat them like they do in the pro ranks, he won't.

Also isn't Baylor a well respected medical institution. Similar to a UAB, etc. I know they won't be along the same lines as a Vany or Georgia Tech academically, but they would be close..............What I'm getting at is that he will have a different type of athlete and it might cut down on some of the off field problems. Maybe then it will fit his approach and attitude and allow him be successful.

I still wish him the best. I have a soft spot for him (probably because he coached Prothro and Demeco - two of my modern day favorites.)

They have a school of nursing, but it represents a very small number of the students enrolled there.

It's a solid education, no doubt. It rivals some of the other schools (like Vandy) as far as its tuition is concerned. The last time I looked it was over 30K a year.
