🏈 Question about kickers

Simple question. Why do we have two FG kickers? I can understand one for place kicking and one for FG but two for FG's? I know Shelley is more for short yardage and Cade for long yardage, but if Cade can kick it long shouldn't he be able to kick it short?

I know Coach Saban has his reasons, and obviously Cade must have challenges with the short kick. Just kind of thinking out loud. Shelley is 6 of 8 but missed a very important kick in the SC game. Just wondering if Saban will keep the 2 FG kicker rotation all season. For some reason I feel more confident with Cade.

You'vepretty well nailed it. Cade has a much stronger leg, but apparently has not been as accurate as Shelley on the short field goals and extra points. It has been a while since we had a kick off man who gets the ball as consistently deep as Foster does. It would not shock me if Cade had all of the duties by the end of the season.

I think Shelley is the more accurate of the two while Cade has the stronger leg.
