Is nickel our new “regular”?
No. And this goes back to snap count. We're still seeing the same package of three downline guys and four linebackers for that front seven.
Snap count is a funny thing with this team. So many blowouts that the backups are starting to rack up considerable statistics... So I don't take that quite as serious as you do. For instance - big JD didn't even appear in 2 games (maybe injured?). Hell if you looked at our QB stats you'd think we have a 2 quarterback system... And I guess we do, just not when the game is in doubt. Same goes for many other backups.
You're not looking at it correctly. You're right in the point we're seeing backups put up good numbers. But, what you're not considering is those backups are working with 1's most of the time. Arkansas State was the only game where you could point to the snaps and be able to, literally, say that's a group of 2's.
Just as an example or two. If you look at ULL about 50 snaps were taken by Mathis, Ray, and Dwight with the 2's. Against A&M, the three combined for roughly 70 snaps and it was with the ones.
As to your quarterbacks, if the team is splitting the reps in practice 50/50--Bama has a two quarterback system. Ironic you bring this up because it fits with your Dwight comments in tone. Here we are a few months removed from you being encouraged, repeatedly, (and here's another quote for you) "don't count Jalen out."
You don't like snap counts, eh? Do you care for baseball numbers? I ask because I'm seeing AAA batting averages with your swings and misses. :naughtydevil:
Oh Terry... If you would have read my previous post you'd see I don't think rushing D is all that important in today's version Alabama football...
BTW, this right here is an example of where our discussions have started each and every time. It's what you're seeing that I have brought to point. Your opinions have never bothered me. It's what you cite trying to back up those opinions that causes pause occasionally.
