šŸˆ Preparing for LSU

So, listening to the talk of the game and this is the gist of what I'm getting from the LSU players.

Last year before the game they were confident and ready to go. As it ends up they thought they were confident, but they really weren't last year. (As close to quotes as I can get.)

Now, this year they are confident and it's a genuine confidence.

Their fans are talking about this resurgence and new approach and I've not seen a single one mention they were ranked #2 in the nation going into last years game.

I've heard more than one mention LSU is scoring an average of 41 points per game over the last three games. LSU was averaging about the same last year coming into the Bama game (and don't forget they were practically gifted the last six points they scored.)

Oh, the players also said "they're playing with the state of Louisiana on their backs."

:smh:

LSU's Fournette calls players-only meeting ahead of Alabama tilt

Ahead of the biggest game in Ed Orgeron's tenure as interim head coach at LSU, it was the players who did the talking in preparation for their game against Alabama.

What was said, though, will remain between them.

"I didn't want to be in there," Orgeron said to Shea Dixon of 247Sports. "They wanted it. I gave it to them."

Led by star running back Leonard Fournette, lineman Ethan Pocic, and safety Jamal Adams, the players-only meeting set the tone for the rest of Thursday's practice as LSU hopes to snap a five-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide.

Orgeron said the meeting lasted 15 minutes, and when the coaching staff entered, you could hear a pin drop.

"I know what was said," Orgeron explained. "Deep down in my heart, I know what was said. By the time I walked in, I know it was good. I know the guys that led it, and I trust them. I think it’s all good.

"Those things are great for team bonding. Doesn’t mean you win or you’re going to play better. But every once in a while, if they feel like they need to have a meeting, I like it. Leadership comes forward."

Since taking over for the fired Les Miles, Orgeron has led the Tigers to a 3-0 record. A win over Alabama may be enough to earn the Cajun the permanent job.
