Seeing the action there, then finding this hole, made the 17th at Patriots Point one of the best holes I've played—certainly one of my favorites.

Tough choice for me. Do I want to nail someone in the stands on the 16th at Phoenix or drown a golf ball on the 17th at Sawgrass? Pretty sure the fans at Phoenix hope I chose the later. .
Takes A lot of ballz to play golf the way I do.

Always grew up with 12 at Augusta being the hole. The second most taught hole was 17 at Sawgrass, so I'm taking that opportunity.

Of the two, I'd pick the 17th @ Sawgrass, but only because it's the only one I can picture in my mind.

If you could play any hole in the world, which one would it be?

For me, course is easy: The Old Course at St. Andrews. Now that I've started back playing golf, I'm trying to figure out a way to do this in the next couple of years.

Any golf hole I'll have to think about, because I would choose the Road Hole @ the Old Course, but that would already be taken care of. My initial thoughts are to try and narrow down the choices on the back 9 at Augusta, or the 18th at Pebble Beach.

Before Covid took over the world, my wife and I planned to go to Scotland for spring break. Our tour was supposed to stop at St. Andrews. I knew there was no shot in hell I was going to get walk on the bridge at 18, but to be there... Stupid Covid.

I would definitely pop someone in the head at 16; likewise, that same shot is going in the drink at 17. The latter is more of a face-my-fear, so let's do it.

After a long deliberation and meditation, I decided to go with the majority here... 17th at TPC Sawgrass. Tough choice though, bounce one off a drunk patrons head at the 16th in Phoenix, (unless it's one of those hooked, head high screamers that cause considerably more damage), or lose a perfectly good Pro V1 in the drink.

I can think of four island greens within an hours drive (like the one posted earlier.) Two off of lakes, two off of major bodies of water. They don't intimidate me any more. I don't know how I'd react there.

Use to play a course down in Jasper, AL (Arrowhead), that had an Island par 3 that was a postage stamp about 180 to 200 yards. Damn near impossible to hit.

The untold story of Sawgrass #17 is it plays a lot easier for the pro's. They don't have to deal with the crosswinds your weekday golfer will.

That picture earlier ... they keep it playing around 150. I've hit a GW through a 3i on that hole. The island isn't that small though those banks are normally cut at fairway length. Imagine hitting a hooded 3i and hoping it buries in the bank.

That video was pretty cool, but I'm left shaking my head at how many of those guys paid $500 for a round of golf with such shitty swings. Those kind of guys have zero chance at making it on that green or even close. I can easily hit that green, but putting would be my issue.

I remember a Golf Digest article years ago that tried to find the " Worst Avid Golfer." Four contestants played Sawgrass. I believe they all putted from tee to green to not lose as many strokes in the water.
