| FTBL Playin' for Pinks?

I think the three obvious that stand out are Tubs, Fulmer, and Croom. However, each has success to fall back on so here is the breakdown according to me.

Tubs- Tremendous success a few years ago but has shown horrible judgement this year and may have exposed his good ole boy ways. Will it be enough to fire him? I doubt it. Do this again next year and yeah, he'll be gone.

Croom- Almost the same thing as tubs. He made tremendous strides in the last three years but was it enough and did they peak? I think he gets another year for sure. Maybe two.

Fulmer- Ultimate success 10 years ago! Has faltered before and recovered. However, the success was linked to a certain OC that is winning football games at DUKE. Think the vol nation hasn't noticed? This may be the fire of the year. Although I would not be surprised to see him given ONE more chance to turn it around for the sake of continuity.

Fulmer, Tubberville, Brooks & Croom? That's 1/3 of an entire conference.

What a difference one year makes. And it make one wonder is it more appropriate to word that as "What a difference OUR year makes"? If the writing is on that wall, them some powerful words on that wall.

So with Fulmer, might UT go for Cutcliffe?

With Auburn, will that throw Head Coach money Will Muschamp's way?

With Croom, is there a substantial enough body of poor performance for a school from Mississippi to fire a Black Head Coach for cause, and not be branded as racists?

With Brooks, well, we know they are not shopping top shelf if he walks, so the question is does the new t.v. contract allow Kentucky to buy more time with Brooks?

Brooks might retire, he won't be fired or issued a pink slip. Considering they've already announced his replacement he doesn't deserve to be included in this conversation.

I'm gonna guess none will be fired.

Interesting food for thought, if Gene Chizit wasn't 2-6 at Iowa State right now and had stayed at Texas, how serious a contender would he be for an SEC job right now?

My sentiments as well. If Brooks was going to be fired it would have been a couple of years ago. He's probably going to call it quits here soon. The guy's been coaching for longer than some of us have been living. The NCAA, the NFL. About time to call it a day and start fishing for a living.

The Croom dilemma will rear its ugly head year after year.

Right or wrong. First SEC school that gets the praise for hiring a black head coach also gets to be the racist goats that first fired a black head coach. It's a bad moon rising.

Although, Tyrone Willingham is gonna need a job...

I can't see why Fulmer would want to stand and fight for his job up there, if they are willing to pay him to leave with dignity. he won't ever have to work again, and he can leave UT with a decent legacy intact. In fact, his legacy there will always be looked upon positively, even here at the end! They have won much more than they have lost, and they do have that National Title back in 98 to hang their hat on. But, as we well know, it's all about what have you done for me lately? I doubt anyone wanted Shula gone at 9-0 back in 2005, but one year later, we had good reason to want him out of there. Anyone think that UT might go after Houston Nutt?

Most likely gone though will be Fulmer. Tuberville is going to have to MELT DOWN to be gone. By that, I mean blowout losses to Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, and perhaps a loss to UT-martin. I think they will win that one game, but the other three will be losses. UGA will be a nazty game for them. And I hope Saban will hang 50 on him. The yelling will be loud in Lee County, but I'm not sure it'll be enough...this year......

Croom is safe.
