George Teague.
He will always be remembered for a play that didnāt count. During Alabamaās shocking 34-13 rout of Miami in the 1993 Sugar Bowl, which clinched the 1992 national championship, cornerback George Teague ran down Hurricanes speedster Lamar Thomas and stripped him of the ball. Even though it was nullified by a penalty, the dramatic take-away against a Miami team that was supposed to be too fast and too talented for Alabama immediately became an ironic symbol of the gameās exploding myths. Few plays in Alabama history are remembered so fondly. Teague (1989-92), a native of Montgomery, earned All-SEC honors as a senior on the Crimson Tideās powerful 1992 defense.
