It is a slow week in the conference , as four teams have off weeks. In the case of Florida and USCe this is badly needed time to regroup. There are some games of interest though.
Auburn at LSU
It hasn't been pretty, but the feisty plains tigers have gotten to 5-2, significantly above expectations. The bayou tigers, meanwhile, have steam rolled their way to a 7-0 mark.
If LSU is looking two weeks ahead, and all of a sudden starts being careless with the football this could be close. I don't think that will happen. The barnsmen will play hard, but a superior foe will ultimately overwhelm them.
LSU 35 Auburn 17
Arkansas at Ole Miss
The misery for Ole Miss and Houston Nutt continues. While Arkansas won't dominate them physically to the extent that we did, they are a lot better, and it looks like the rebel bears are about to pack it in for the year. Air Petrino rolls big time.
Arkansas 42 Ole Miss 10
Army at Vanderbilt
The Dores showed their fesity side last week end in giving Georgia all they wanted. They have a shot at being bowl eligible now, but they can't let Army beat them as they did Northwestern. It won't be pretty, but:
Vanderbilt 27 Army 17
Jacksonville State at Kentucky
The Wildcats have really struggled against some mediocre opponents and have been hammered by some good ones. They have struggled to find offense all season. That will make this one close, but I am sure Joker Phillips and his staff have reminded the team that the Gamecocks took down Ole Miss a year ago.
Kentucky 21 Jacksonville State 13
Tennessee at Alabama
I've been an Alabama fan since I was a kid in the fifties, and this has always been a game to get the adrenaline flowing on both sides. Coach Bryant used to saythat we played the first half of our schedule, then played Tennessee to find out how good we were. While I am looking forward to this game Saturday it really can't be viewed in that light. Tennessee has an average defense, and an offense that is struggling to find its identity after losing its best receiver and its gunslinger QB. For those Vols who make the trip, it will be a long, unhappy ride back to Knoxville.
Alabama 45 Tennessee 7
Texas A&M at Iowa State
The aggies seem to have shaken off their second half woes, and certainly impressed last week in the 4th quarter against Baylor. Their high powered attack scores early and often.
Texas A&M 48 Iowa State 10
Oklahoma State at Missouri
While Missouri has a high powered attack, it looks mule powered next to that of the cowboys. Missouri hasn't shown much defensive prowess so far, and they will have a tough time with OSU
Oklahoma State 47 Missouri 28
