Our favorite team is off this week, but there are some dynamite SEC games, and a couple of block buster games nationally.
Oklahoma at Texas Tech
Completely under the radar, TT has started the season undefeated, and leading the nation in total defense. Granted, this has been against weak opposition. Meanwhile. Oklahoma is coming off a disappointing loss to Kansas State, and another loss would doom their once high hopes for this season. I think that the Sooner Schooner will get back on track this week. PJ's Pick: Oklahoma 30 Texas Tech 21
West Virginia at Texas
West Virginia's defense has been almost non existent this year, and so far it hasn't mattered. Texas expected their defense to be much better, but games against Ole Miss and Oklahoma State show that the 'Horns D is still vulnerable. The scoreboard operator will be exhausted after this one. It could be that whoever has the last posession wins it. David Ash is no Gino Smith, but his D is better than the Mountaineers'.

PJ's Pick: Texas 52 West Virginia 49
Arkansas at Auburn
The Auburn offense hasn't moved the ball on much of anyone this year. Saturday they will be facing an Arkansas defense that hasn't stopped much of anyone all season. It is the case of the resistible force meeting the movable object. Auburn's defense stepped it up against LSU, but their weakness is in the secondary. Arkansas strength on offense is, you guessed it, in the passing game. Auburn's defensive ends are very good, while Arkansas's offensive tackles have displayed a lack of concern over Tyler Wilson's health. For this reason I like the home team to win.

PJ's Pick: Auburn 24 Arkansas 17
Mississippi State at Kentucky
Kentucky started out last week as if they were intent on saving Joker Phillips job, but the emotional frenzy wore off by half time, the Gamecocks dominated the second half, and the end result was yet another bruising defeat for the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have rolled to this point in the season still undefeated. They seem to have their typical stingy defense, and Tyler Russell has given them an effective passing attack. I look for the Bulldogs to remain undefeated.

PJ's Pick: Mississippi State 37 Kentucky 10
Vanderbilt at Missouri
Vandy brings a feisty, tough team to vist Mizzou. The Tigers got their pride stung in their first two SEC outings, against East powerhouses Georgia and South Carolina. Last weekend they finally showed some toughness, as opposed to chippiness. I think that they have started to figure things out, and have a little too much for Vandy, especially playing at home.

PJ's Pick: Missouri 27 Vanderbilt 21
Texas A&M at Ole Miss
Yes, I know that Arkansas defense isn't much this year, but the Aggies attack really impressed me last weekend. Ole Miss gave a good account of itself last weekend against Bama. I don't think that they will be as sky high this week.

PJ's Pick: Texas A&M 41 Ole Miss 21
LSU at Florida
Florida's young QB is maturing nicely. Thanks to Muschamp's recruiting efforts the Gators now have running backs more suited to a pro style attack than to the Meyer spread. Their defense has proved to be solid, and they already have two SEC wins as part of their undefeated season.
LSU has the same dominating defense it has had for several years. They still have the same strong running game. This was supposed to be the year they would unveil a new QB and a real down the field passing game. So far this hasn't happened. I expect the Gators to stack the box and force LSU to the air. If their passing attack didn't get it done against Auburn, it won't against LSU.

In a mild upset:
PJ's Pick: Florida 23 LSU 21
Georgia at South Carolina
This is such a big game that I am going to break out my Leonard Posthostis routine.
Mark Richt takes his pack of Red Clay Hounds up to the Columbia chicken coop. Now these hounds are fierce, and normally a flock of chickens are no match for them. But Steve Spurrier has got himself a pumped up bunch of gamecocks who are going to put up a fierce battle. Fur and feathers will be flying all game, and this one won't be decided until late in the day. In the end the chickens will defend their home coop.
