Mississippi State at Georgia

The pups from Stark Vegas had high aspirations coming into this season. They had a senior quarterback, a strong running game, a respectable defense, and their toughest SEC West games (LSU, Arkansas, Alabama) were all at home. Then they found a way to lose at Auburn, got drilled at home by LSU, and just barely beat Louisianna Tech last weekend. The Athens dawgs also had high expectations, but their early opponents were top 25 and they began with a couple of losses. The winner of this game can still hope for a nice bowl game, while the loser is destined for Shreveport or Memphis. The home dawgs have a bigger bite right now. I like

Georgia 27 Miss State 17

Kentucky at LSU

This game is a cat fight, and it is about as much of a mismatch as a bout in nature between a wildcat and a bengal tiger. Kentucky has struggled against the mediocre opponents on its early schedule, and got hammered at home against Florida, the only good team they have faced. LSU wins big.

LSU 42 Kentucky 10

Auburn at USCe

While the defending champs are 3-1 at this point, their path will be very rocky in October. The barners were sluggish offensively against Florida Atlantic, and in one of the more telling stats about their defense, the Owls gained more yardage against the barner defense than against their first three opponents combined. USCe on the other hand, has a stout defense. While no one will confuse USCe with an explosive offense, look for Garcia, Jeffries, Latimore and company to considerably pad their stats in this one.

USCe 41 Auburn 20

Arkansas versus Texas A & M

Two teams who lost big games last week end will compete in Jerry Land this week. Texas A & M had a lot of trouble with Oklahoma State's high powered offense. The Razorback offense runs on jet fuel as well. The Aggies are no slouches on offense, but the Razorbacks should have enough defense to slow them down. I like the piggies in this one:

Arkansas 38 Texas A & M 21

Buffalo at Tennessee

The Vols follow an off week with a cupcake at home, before jumping back into SEC play. Tyler Bray and friends will do well. The Vols win a laugher.

Tennessee 41 Buffalo 17

Ole Miss at Fresno State

Why on earth are the rebel/bears travelling to play a team like Fresno State? Maybe they knew a bowl wasn't in the cards for this time so they got the players a nice trip to the west coast. The Rebels offensive woes continued last week end against Georgia, as they managed to score only on a trick play on offense and a reverse on a punt return. Fresno State has won two straight, but they were hardly against SEC caliber opposition. I will pick Ole Miss in tis game, but I won't be surprised if I am wrong.

Ole Miss 24 Fresno State 17

Now for the main course:

Alabama at Florida

I
feel the urge to channel Leonard Posthostis: Nick saban takes his pachyderms to the swamp to challenge Will Muschamp's giant water lizards. ... Enough of that. On the surface this game looks very even. Both teams are well stocked with good football players, as a review of the last four years of recruiting rankings would show. Both have stout run defenses. Both can be very explosive on offense. Florida will use its very talented defensive line to try to shut down Bama's running game and force A J to beat them through the air. Bama will likely use a similar strategy against the gators. I think our advantage is in our linebackers and secondary, especially in experience, will be the deciding factor in this game.
(Leonard's Loser) PJs Pick:

Alabama 24 Florida 14
