10rc is in some trouble right now. Some of the boosters are trying to use the "sucker punch" of the olineman back in fall camp to pull a Pappy Price on the angry dyke they have as a coach now. I lived up there in my younger days (unfortunately) and still talk to folks in the area. A certain sector of the boosters have already decided he is Dooley 2.0 and are looking to move on. I personally hope they can him as it will set them back another 5 yrs. Dismissing Howard will do nothing but turn up the heat under an already bubbling pot.

i cant say i would agree. tennessee is still overall improving. they have some personnel issues especially at rb. imagine their team with a chubb at rb and a couple of great players intheir defensive front 7.

Just kidding, jd. But, seriously, they have players at some spots. I don't like to imagine them being any better though. I love it things the way they exist.

We will just have to disagree. Running back is probably the strongest position they have currently with Hurd and Kamara. They have a shitty OC and a tenative HC, weak at LB and any DB not named Sutton. They were picked to win the East by several and they aren't even competing for the East, much less winning it. Their coach is reportedly on film punching a player, they've had 2 near mutinies on the oline and they just kicked their SR receiver off the team.

hurd looks and runs like a scout team WR. Kamara is quite average. their OC has little to work with. LB is a biggie for them.

all i'm saying is, unless the argument is that he will never be able to recruit better players, the coach is not to blame at this point. He should get at least as much time as Shula to fully run the program down.

Tennessee is improving? Could have fooled me. Compare years 1 and 2 of Dooley's stint vs Butch's. 1 more win and 1 less loss for Butch. Now look at season 3 for each. Butch likely 2-5 after first 7 games (still have to play UGA and Bama in games 6 and 7). Dooley was 3-4 his first 7 games. That's about when the cries were reaching a crescendo for his head, right? They will have the exact same record (assuming UGA and Bama beat them, through 7 games of year 3. Actually, they opened 2012 3-2 and are 2-3 this year, so they have the same record to date. Not much improvement in the win/loss aspect.

Funny last year when a bunch of their fans would use the "brick by brick" moniker that Butch was preaching. Haven't heard that in a while now...

the style of play when dooley was there compared to now is quite different. i think the teams this angry buzzcut guy is producing are quite a bit more physical and have better fight in them.

I think they've improved. Their losses have gone from no chance of winning to agonizingly close and blown leads. OT loss to OK, 1 point to an improved UF, and 4 points to Arky. They've learned to compete, but not clsoe out games yet. If that improvement doesn't translate to wins, though, he's gone.
