Imagine growing up and seeing your favorite team, basically being a bitch to all its rivals. I was in second grade when Alabama beat Auburn in the 2001 Iron Bowl, and I was a freshmen in high school in 2008 when we beat their ass for the first time in six years (which to me felt like an eternity).

For that reason alone, the 2008 Iron Bowl was my favorite moment. When Greg McElroy threw that last minute touch down pass to Marquis Maze, it was a total fuck you statement to Tubs for all the shit talking he put us through for 6 years. In that moment, the Barners knew the gig was up and they were relegated to being a second rate school in the state of Alabama.

yeah. Rough times to start life as a Bama fan...
Mine started...in 50s....when rock bottom...was really rock bottom.....

still a pre teen....my dad ..a major bama fan...came home from work one day...running into house with his ass on fire.... screaming to-mom.... "we just hired Bear Bryant .....we just hired Bear Bryant ( or something
Ike that)". I remember the look of..."SO" on her face...and just finished getting supper up..... and so life as a Bama fan was starting in the late50s....
And then again around 2007....

When i was at Penn State...i brought up that game andthat play a lot...PSU fans still claim he wasnt in...whatever....

That should go on a thread about bad plays/calls in Bama history. I remember watching that game.

I thought I was the oldest old fart on this site but you have me by a couple of years. I got to see Namath play against GT at my first Bama game ... but I was too young to appreciate what I was seeing. That was remedied by the time he led the Jets to the guaranteed victory in SB III! My dad, the most rabid Bama fan in history, and a manā€™s man, actually shed tears when he learned about Pat.

Pre teen!? I was a Jr in HS. Entered Bama in '59 in Coach Bryant's second year.
