FB page "BAMATIME" posted this earlier and I thought it was really cool and wanted to share ..
OLD SCHOOL IMAGE OF THE WEEK
Bryant-Denny Stadium 50 years ago in 1966... Back when it was just Denny Stadium and back when its capacity had just increased from around 43,000 to 60,000:
Other fun facts if the era (some more factual than others):
1. '66 was a year if Bama getting ripped off. Not only did the voter's take a political stance to prevent UA from winning it's 3rd straight National Title, Steve Spurrier got the Heisman Nod over a more deserving senior special teams standout, Forrest Gump
2. Tulane realized the SEC wasn't their cup of tea and left the conference
3. Center, tackles and guards on the offense required to wear numbers 50-79.
4. Pyramiding players to block FGs/XPs made illegal.
5. Intentionally throwing a backward pass out of bounds to conserve time was made illegal
I wasn't born until 1970, which happened to be a 6-5-1 record and 3-4 in the SEC. '69 and '70 were years that had many wanting Coach Bryant gone. I'm sure glad cooler heads prevailed.
