🏈 Phillip Sims Going to Virginia

On our front page Sims high school coach said he should have been the starting QB. Look like he going back home. Hope he get the starting QB job.

I'm not sure how he could have reworded that statement without sounding ignorant.
I will say that ours is certainly one of the few teams that he could not have taken the starting position given the length of time that he spent in the system. I wish Phillip the very best.

high school coach needs to keep quiet and forget about his minute of fame. he isn't helping Sims right now in a few different areas.

Correct!! His high school coach makes it sound more like sour grapes than any potential medical issues that a family member might be having. NCAA may not grant Phillip a waiver if they listen to him.

This move doesn't shock me and I've already grown weary of the "processed" talk. This isn't a positive move for Bama.

His coach should shut up. Saban wants rings. He doesn't give a damn where you lived. Foolish

Sims will make a good QB for someone. When he signed with Bama he said he welcomed the competition. Apparently be didn't consider losing that contest...

Keep AJ healthy and no one will care. This move being made sooner may have influenced Kiel or Winston

Not positive? It sure doesn't help with some recruiters throwing race cards out there...that's for sure.

I've yet to see the "processed talk" you refer to...

Ha, venture to the AU boards. Perhaps I should've clarified.

The "positive move" was meant to be linked to the "processed" comment. Several of my fellow AU folk have chalked this up as Saban's roster management. Even I've argued against that one, it wouldn't make sense.

As for the race card, meh. Saban has played black QBs. Bama has had some. It isn't the school's fault that Walter Lewis didn't leave a lasting impression and that Andrew Zow sucked. Hell, Starr Jackson couldn't even cut it at GA State. Bama was hot after Jameis this year. If it wasn't the race card it would be something else. It is recruiting...

Call me naive, I don't see this hurting you guys unless AJ goes down or has a stellar year and decides to go pro (not likely). The race card was there and you still almost landed Winston. Anyone can look at the last 3 you guys have had and see race wast what kept them off the field, or took them off, as it were.

When I posted that response on processed I almost made a reference to the aufamily site wondering if that's where you picked it up! I could guess as to which posters are throwing that out there. Tim?

I don't know where you have gotten the impression we almost landed JW. As many here can testify, I pointed to FSU for weeks and weeks despite some saying he's leaning our way. I never bought that...not for a second.

Duder, I'll have to disagree with you about Andrew Zow. If you were to look at the record books for quarterbacks here at UA, you'll find that Zow's name is listed in the TOP 5 in every category! I would have to say that Zow didn't suck as you put it. He got caught in Franchione's system and Tyler Watt's was better suited for that offense than was Zow. Zow lit your boys up on the Plains I do believe!!

Phillip's timing very well cost us a QB in recruiting. That makes me mad, but I doubt he knew his future 100% in fall/early winter. I'm sure even with whatever family situation is there that he believed he'd compete in spring and hopefully win the job. I can't fault him for any of that. I do fault him for not coming up to tell me this on the airplane, so I'd be prepared ahead of time.

I am very well acquainted with JW's mom. In after the fact conversations with her, the deal breaker for him and Bama was that he could play football at FSU and also test minor league baseball. That knocked all the SEC schools out of it. We were second, but it was nowhere near a photo finish.

The only two ahead of Zow in career passing yardage are Croyle and Wilson. He was Alabama's all-time passing leader until they passed him.
