šŸˆ Phil Savage previews Bama (video)

I wonder if the boss cares much for Savage's prediction of Bateman and Hurts playing against southern cal? In all fairness, why give the competition the heads up? A lot of LA writers think Clay Helton has it wrong and are already criticizing him for not starting the redshirt freshmen against the Tide. So, Saban's got it right when he says, "Like I'd tell you."

As publicized as our program is today, I don't believe Phil is giving anything away that is of material use to the opposition. He does bring up the point of oline continuity and backs in pass pro. We may be in for a close one with usc whilst ironing out the kinks.

Hang on, just a minute.

He and Phil Savage are friends, so I think Phil would have more validity than your run-of-the-mill beat reporter.

Yes. Savage is a true professional. And he's never going to say anything that Saban is not OK with.

Other than Savage, Cecil Hurt is the most "in the know". He's clearly the guy Saban goes through to release information or any type of politically related statements (football politics). Whether it's how Alabama fans should act or how the NCAA should approach things, Cecil gets the drop. IMO he will even plant Hurt with questions in the press conferences for his signature blow ups... They've got a good thing going.

I'm betting you feel the same way as I do @TUSKstuff and I'd be really surprised if the boss even knows or gives a damn what Savage or anyone else thinks.

I doubt seriously that Saban planted that seed with Savage. At this point with a week to go, everyone has an opinion and some are getting paid to express it. Saban just said, he's not saying. It will be interesting if Phil has any more to say on the subject this week.

Savage isn't divulging any information that Saban doesn't want out. After 35-40 years around the game, Savage has a pretty good eye for what is going on and then as he says, "this is just my opinion, but I think....".
