This will start to happen with regularity if you ask me. Not that we will take all transfers, but this ball is rolling and people want to be a part of it.

Don't know if Miles would release him to sign with Bama. Of course he can transfer without a release, but then he'd have to pay his own way for a year. Our own scholarship numbers look to be very tight for enrolling this year.

He's already granted Jones an unconditional release - I don't believe he can suddenly just change his mind. IF he can, and did, PR disaster.

Jones was looking to transfer in to Auburn. But, from what I understand, Auburn didn't want to have a kid on scholly that would be a three year scholarship but Jones could only play two years.

I think that very well may have a bearing on what our staff decides to do as well.

After this year, we will need more depth at CB. We lose alot next year and even if he does not start, he would add great depth and be an addition to special teams.

I'd LOVE to get him on campus. He's a talented player, has SEC experience and he'll have a year to learn the system. We are going to be extremely thin at DB after this year... losing 3 CBs and 3 safeties I believe... not to mention the depth we have at CB right now has zero experience. I know of a couple elite CBs we should sign this year, but I certainly don't want to rely on that as depth. Jones can EASILY be moved to safety if need be. He could also be an answer at receiver/kick returner. I'm hearing that this is pretty much a done deal, but we'll see. I think he's gonna have to pay his own way though during the 09 season, as I don't think Miles well grant him a release to UA.

Yeah, Miles will not release him to us. But he has done some stupid crap over the last four years so who knows. Really will not matter. He can get student loans for 1 year, then be on scholly, then go pro. He has the ability to at least get a lucratice sign on bonus to take care of a 1 year loan. So if he wants to come to Bama it should be no problem.
