šŸ“” šŸ¤ø GymTide- 2026: Bama 197.200 // Ilinois 196.175

Is it a loss? It's a score going into a group of scores. LSU would still be ranked #2 if Bama would have recorded a higher score. They are sitting on two 198+'s at home this season.

He is correct t though, LSU's floor exercise rotation was nowhere near the scores they were given. You could see on the gymnasts' faces during their routine they were off snd still received 9.9 and higher.

The scores seem to even out and be more "fair" starting with the postseason meets.
That's part of the reason I mention the scoring. Well, a lot of the reason. Still, gotta go back to those two 198's. One will come off, but Bama hasn't hit that mark. They're back at LSU this next meet and probably won't.

I don't know how many OU has had this season...can't remember.

It's basically seeding, ya?

Can we get Simone Biles in on an NIL deal? Now that her Olympic career is over. I know she’s acquired some enhancements since she retired, but even with the big twins, she’d still probably be the best in the competitions.

"Back-to-back competitions here in Baton Rouge – lots of intense moments and environment that felt very championship-like at times, and I'm really proud of our team for being gritty and being resilient. I said really similar things when we competed at LSU a couple days ago, and I saw it again. I didn't see any tired energy. I saw them continue to fight, continue to find ways to get better and continue to be unfazed. They had a great performance tonight, and I think, at times, the scores didn't reflect that, and that was really frustrating and could've been something to really distract them from the mission. But they were unfazed and continued to fight and find ways to put an exclamation mark on their performance. Another great step in the right direction as we prepare for another doubleheader next weekend."

Excellent ladies!
Hey Mike. When you get a chance, look up how gymnastics is scored. I sort of got into this a bit in the thread about Bama losing to LSU.

It doesn't work that way. Excellent? No. It wasn't. The brass tacks of how teams are scored and ranked say this was the worst performance of the season.

Think about it this way. What's called a loss at LSU is a score Bama will keep. What's called a win versus Kentucky is a score Bama will drop.

Ashley mentioned a few weeks ago they have to find ways to get that extra .10th of a point.

The season, in my opinion, points to Bama making it to the final six. That's a successful season for a program. But, winning a title?

They haven't broke that 198 number. A few teams have: some more than once. But, on the other hand, they been in the 197's all season.

Wow! I had no idea. I will look at it later today. Thanks for the info!

This is one of the reasons this sport is frustrating. In the last two meets we've seen the lowest scores of the season. But, there isn't a way to discern if we're seeing the results of subjective judging or a team regressing without watching every event, event competitor.
