Jeez talk about a huge brain frt. Les needs a jumo box of Beano or GasX or somthing.
Go back and double check my math but i counted him useing "Uh" 9 times in 43 seconds.
Uh is not a word in the english language.
as anyone who does public speaking or has taken verbal communications courses
will tell you using "Uh" excesivly is a HUGE No No. It leaves the listener with the imprestion that
you have no idea of which you are speaking or that you are just plain stupid. (Both would apply for Les)
In his defense (if that is at all possible) it's so ingranied into American-English language that it's become common place.
I have to catch my self all the time when i'm dealing with potential customers (piticularly those with a higher education than my self, which is almost everyone) so that i don't fall into the Uh trap. The LAST thing i want to do is to leave the imprestion that i have zero knowlage of the subject. Ther is no bigger deterioration of confidence in some one as there is when you realise they don't speak well. Just today, while in a situation durring a meeting @ Maxwell AFB on a job i'm bidding, found my self going over my 19th Rule in my head.
It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.
That thought was going through my head the entire meeting. Luckily for the limited education i have ...... i pride myself on my vocabluary.
It's just hard to mentally remind my self to speak slowly and process the words in my head before i allow them to come flying out my mouth in a prof. situation.
Less on the other hand.....can't even form the words in his mind much less have the required motor skills to articulate what little thought power his tiny mind does posses.
