šŸˆ Paul Finebaum: Will Nick Saban's assault on Crimson Tide fans hurt him or will they say, 'Thank you,

I personally don't see anything wrong with Saban's comments. He never blamed any of us for the loss, he only said that we didn't as a collective fan base do the best we could have. He's not pointing at anyone specifically. Saban is in a position that allows him to see the bigger picture...so I welcome his constructive criticism...which is all it is...constructive criticism...not some personal attack on our loyalty.

I got the same thing. He seemed to put the blame on everybody not just the fans.

Thats the problem.....the blame shouldnt be placed on everybody but at his feet. It wasnt the fans that had the defense unprepared. It wasnt the fans that had nobody ready to step in at Oline when Johnson went down.

Saban gets plenty of praise (most rightfully so) but he also needs to step up and take some responsibilty when things dont go right too.

If you have kept up with CNS over his career, he's not real good at that.

Saban Post Sugar Bowl PC

-But, you know, we're still building quality depth in our program and lost a couple of offensive linemen, probably two of the three best offensive lineman we had for this game for whatever reasons, and we didn't get it done like we needed to get done. I am responsible for that. You know, I'm responsible to have the team ready to play. I don't think we were ready to play today. I don't know why.

-We didn't finish the season like we wanted, and I'm sorry for that for them. I think they deserved better. We wanted better for them. And we failed them in not being able to help them get where they needed to get so they could have a chance to be successful in this game. That's to take nothing away from Utah.

-So, if that's what gave them all their intensity, then I guess I'm responsible for the way they played and I'm responsible for the way we played. So I'm responsible for the whole damn kittenkaboodle.

But you're missing the point. Saban never once said that it was our fault that the team wasn't prepared. Not even once. What he is saying is that we didn't have the right mindset as a collective fanbase going into this game...and hell...like somebody else said all you have to do is go back into this forums archives to get proof of that. I was guilty of it too.

So when did paul replay that quote over and over again?? OOOOH it must have been the days i rode my motorcycle and didn't get a chance to listen to him on the way hom....:lance: Paul is a ****nut

Anybody listen to sports call??

Get on the field, Coach Saban. Win some games and give us something to be excited about. When the team moves the ball, we will cheer. I speak for all 'Bama fans.

He didn't give us something to be excited about last year? Am I missing something? You have to understand that he's not just talking about how the fans were during the game...but the mindset the fans and most everybody else had about facing a so called "inferior" team in Utah. We quite frankly, as a collective fan base, got arrogant. He's not saying "little Johnny in seat 15 wasn't loud enough for my liking while we were getting our arse whooped." He's talking about the bigger picture.

This is the last thing I'll say about this. Some of you fans amaze me..I read lots of times on this very board when we were undefeated and winning like a house of fire how great CNS is and how great the coaching staff is. Now that he says something to the poor little fanbase some of the fans start whining and saying "It aint our fault....sniff..sniff".

Like CNS and several people on here have said AS A COLLECTIVE we are responsible. Our job as FANS is to be pumped for our team and be loud...which if we're being honest we weren't always at certain games last year. The coache's job is to have the team prepared which we saw with Utah the team wasn't prepared.

I'm happy with CNS all the same...sometimes I need a wake up call.

I agree 100%. It's time we quit taking things so personally and take our constructive criticism like the adults we are. And with that I'll leave this thread for good.

Let me say this:

"Enough people say it enough and the perception becomes reality. Enough people that keep hearing the same old things thrown at them will eventually believe anything."

"When Coach Saban then does what can be construed as joining in, it is not good. He is supposed to be on our side. At first, I felt a bit of betrayal is what he was dishing out."

before all of you leave the thread.

Yes, you seem to have become arrogant. But, rest assured, it didn't affect the players. Were you around the players all week?

As far as giving the fans something to cheer about last season, he did. He didn't really provide much during the Utah game. I find it hard to cheer very loudly for a team down by 21 points in the first quarter.

Am I irrationally upset and want immediate action taken? Of course not. That is how it is made out though. Eventually, the ignorant start to believe it.

Calling me out personally for being arrogant now? For someone that has been jumping on people for "insulting" you, you sure have no problem dishing it out I see. With all due respect, you seem a bit spoiled and snooty. Someone who gets upset if someone "dares" give you any criticism or even suggests that they don't agree with your opinion. That one pseudo-intellectual that seems to be on just about every kind of internet message board that for some reason thinks that if he types properly and in a condescending manner that his opinion should be taken as fact...and if someone doesn't then they're "insulting" you somehow.

But on to your remarks about the players... Was I personally around the players? No, but you can't tell me when people surrounding you prop you up and laugh at the opposition that it wouldn't in some way affect you as a player. We helped create a mindset that playing in the Sugar Bowl against Utah was a "joke." How much that affected the players I really can't tell you...but I can tell you one thing...it sure didn't help. That's the facts...and if you can't deal with them then I guess that's something you'll have to get over.

And this time I will leave it at that. So go ahead and lash back at me with your usual rhetoric Altie. I was happy to see ya back...because sometimes you have some real valid opinions...but other times they're nothing short of melodrama, so to prevent me from further polluting this forum with personal bickering, I'll go ahead and add you to my ignore list. Also, there's no use in arguing over a Paul Finebaum piece, so I won't be checking this thread anymore...hopefully it will die.

If you can't have a bit 'o discussion, BamaCore, without going to the extreme of ignoring another poster, that is unfortunate.

I only mentioned arrogance because you had issued a blanket indictment of all 'Bama fans and considered them, almost to a man, to be arrogant and disrespectful of Utah. Even the mere thought of having to play Utah, you argue, was a disgrace to 'Bama fans and this attribute transferred itself to the players.

If you felt that you were arrogant and it bothers you, that is also unfortunate. If you felt that I was being rude in my response to you, I apologize. As you say, we can still post in the same threads. All you have to do is give me as much leeway as you do your average newbie. That is what I am, after all.

Sorry about the way I communicate; I understand that many people don't appreciate the supposed tone I use. Many times, words do not adequately represent exactly what you wished to express.

I graduated Samford, got a job, got married, had child and that is about it. Sorry if the words I use or the way I say certain things upset you. You will notice that I never criticize anyone's style or spelling or grammar, etc... I am still not the best on punctuation.

Pseudo-Intellectual? Not hardly. I just try my best; it often isn't enough.

Roll Tide, Bama Core.

why the need to be nauseatingly smug and pompous? I have a good idea. Lay off the personal references specifically designed to create animosity on the board.

some people rolling eyes, some being sanctimonious, why not just comment on the post as luvdimtigers did. He, or she, had the intelligence to present a viewpoint without trying to talk down to someone or humiliate them.

win!!!
