Does the "forward lateral" exist anymore??

I understand that a "Utah shuttle" is a forward pass.

And according to the refs and many here that play by TN yesterday was a "pass".

As log as the ball leaves one players hands (even momentarily) going forward then it is a "pass"?

Pitch and pass are the same thing if they leave the hand of one player in the direction of another, traveling forward. If it's caught, it's a completed pass. If it's dropped, it's incomplete.

Yes, overhanded or underhanded doesn't change it.

"Forward lateral" is a term you rarely hear anymore. "Illegal forward pass" is the more correct term. It only occurs when a player crosses the line of scrimmage and passes (or laterals) the ball to another player who is further downfield than he is.
