🏈 PAC 10 Expansion?

It could be musical teams: Pac 10 talking about adding Colorado and Utah, Big 12 would then grab TCU, Mountain West grabs Boise.

The Pac 10 and the Big 11 have to have seen all the $ and publcity that the SEC and Big 12 get from their football championship games.

actually I think the Big Ten makes the most in TV money, followed by the SEC, then a HUGE gap to the Big-XII

2009 numbers...
Big Ten: $242
SEC: $205
Big 12: $78
ACC: $67
Pac 10: $58
Big East: $33

That's a bit mis-leading due to the Big10 network. Also, the new deals the SEC has with ESPN and CBS aren't reflected in those numbers.

part of my point to the whole thing was the Big XII isn't even number 2.

You are probably right about the ESPN/CBS numbers not reflected, accurately, based on what I've gathered below. Believe those number are from 2008 season which ends in august 2009?

I believe the Big Ten doesn't announce their revenue numbers to the public, so it's all guesses...but their TV contract alone is estimated to be worth around $200m and they only have to split this among 10 teams. The SEC has ESPN and CBS deals that bring in about $3B over 15 years, which is about $200m per year, divided by 2 additional teams.

Ah, you do know there is eleven teams in the Big 10, right?

But you are to be excused. If the most brilliant minds in the nation (and if you do not believe me, just ask any random graduated from a member institution of that league) cannot look at a conference membership consisting of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan St., THE Ohio State University, and Penn State and see the tally is eleven and not TEN, why should a little ol' dunderhead fan of Alabama be expected to come to the correct total.

I'd, of course, welcome the move to the Pac-10. Having a legit chance to play for a title and having that cut of BCS money every year are both pretty exciting prospects.

I also think it'd be funny as hell if Utah and TCU jump ship from the MWC and leave BYU in their dust. :)
