🏈 Out of character?

Did anyone else besides me think the whole Yeldon cash money throat slash celebration was way out of character for the usually quiet tailback? I mean, I loved it and jumped off my couch excited. Mainly because it was directed at the toolbag Manziel, but I was pumped. I don't condone celebrations like that normally, but it seemed all too fitting considering the game, atmosphere, and refs. Anyone else surprised by Yeldon's move?

Yup it's not the norm for his usual business-like demeanor. I think he just got caught up in the moment.

I think if it had just been the money gesture it would have gone un-flagged but the throat slash was what did him in. Though the whole thing was no more than a second or two, and it was two gestures, not sure what was "excessive" there.

I completely agree with everyone. I saw Coach on his butt about it when he got to the sideline, but I don't think we see that any more due to his demeanor and character. I did thoroughly enjoyed it though. Couldn't have come from a more unlikely guy and surprised me more.

Complete B.S. Play football. Knock off the trash talk and the acting out. I hope Saban kicks his ass. With a second fumble on a scoring drive that they turned into a scoring drive it seemed like déjà Vu. He could have cost us the game. He is not irreplaceable.

That celebrating crap never happened in a Bryant coached team. When Ozzie Newton spiked the ball after his first touchdown in the NFL he said to the reporters. I hope Coach Bryant didn't see that.

im only going to comment on the fumble. It was a well defended play by the Aggies. Give them the credit. TJ did everything per textbook and has the ball secured tight with both arms but he got stood up by one guy going low and the other going high and thru TJ's arms. I don't care how good you are sometimes it just happens. Lets not forget TJ ran that entire series but hey let's crucify him, have our coaches kick his ass and throw him in the gutter. BTW the Bear is dead. Carry on...

Thats what I thought too. It was the Money thing then superman gesture is what I saw. CBS gets hung up on the throat slash thing too much. I remember when DJ hall did it and they couldn't shut up about it. I didn't like it but it wasn't that bad. Why don't they call it on Manziel when he does it?

Didn't look like Superman to me, it looked like his index fingers were extended. I think he just got pumped and wanted to mock JFF. Not classy but still funny IMO.

Are we all forgetting Ingram doing a similar thing after his last TD against Texas in the BCSCG? He did the down horns and then the double throat slash. They just get caught up in the moment. JP Wilson pointing at the scoreboard against Arky, etc. It happens.

If TJ simply sticks to the money thing, the umpire doesn't throw the flag. When he went to the throat slash RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE UMPIRE, TJ gave the man no choice. It was very uncharacteristic of TJ but don't think that these guys don't sit around and talk about "this is what I'm gonna do when I score!"

I don't recall Mark giving the horns down or the throat slash, but I do recall vividly, Greg McElroy celebrating in the victory formation giving the horns down sign.
Just for the record, it was Ozzie Newsome not Ozzie Newton. I think you got your $cam celebration in your head when you typed it.

You're right. I didn't think he was going to bench Yeldon the rest of the game, but I did think he might see the 3rd quarter from the bench. I did forget that CNS handles matters like this internally. My guess is that with that penalty and fumble, Yeldon may have done enough this morning to puke, and then that's the end of it.

I know they're trying to make the game safer, and I completely agree with that, but at some point you just have to say "that's football" and accept that it's just part of the game. There was absolutely zero intent to injury.

The rule for calling the "throat slash" an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty wasn't in effect in 2009. I can't recall if they instituted the rule this past summer or the summer of 2012.
