Here's one line from the Coaching Search Ticker:
Texas: Orangebloods.com reports that Jon Gruden is interested in the Texas job, but that there has been no contact. That would contradict comments by USC athletic director Pat Haden, who said Gruden wants to be an NFL coach.

Funny to me...I just sent about the same text message to psychojoe about a half an hour ago.
Here's a few excerpts from the reaction in Twitterverse:

Another job opening, another Jon Gruden report!

Orangebloods.com is reporting Gruden has interest in the job, but that there has been no contact. This would contradict recent comments from USC athletic director Pat Haden, who reached out to Gruden, but said the former Buccaneers coach wants to be in the NFL.

As with any Gruden report, the internet had some fun with it. Here are some of the best responses to the Gruden report.

I heard an ESPN reporter on yesterday's Finebaum show say that Gruden reached out to Spurrier...sometime in the last year and asked about the college coaching world. When Spurrier told him all that he had to do, including recruiting, dealing with grades, etc., Gruden's reaction was quite negative.

That's why I wholeheartedly believe this one:

“Anyone who thinks Jon Gruden is going to leave the broadcast booth to go sit in the living room of some Plano teenager is high.”

I wish somebody would hire him and get him off MNF. He's a very knowledgeable analyst, but everything is so "gee whiz, golly gosh" with Jon. Overly enthusiastic. You know what I mean?

Gruden has worked as a coach for several colleges so why would he need to call Spurrier to find out what the job entails? :chat_headscratch:

It is annoying. Every single week one of the QBs in the game is the greatest thing hes ever seen. Hes obviously very passionate about football and I appreciate the "Gruden grinders" but it does get annoying.

What I am hearing on the radio call-in shows here in Austin is that while there are many people that love Gruden and would welcome his intensity and brand of football to change the softness in the program, there are those concerned that he doesn't have a lot of college football experience. New Texas AD, Steve Patterson, has already been interviewed by local media and he has stated that college football is very different from NFL because of the other responsibilities of a college football head coach such as recruiting.

I like Gruden. I think he would do well at Texas. I am hearing some small chatter over here about Saban coming back in the picture. It's probably nothing though.

Sorry. I was just reporting on the limited info that I have heard in the past 48hrs about that. Alabama fans should rest easy because, like I said, it's probably nothing.

Not unlike other assumptions, here's one Bama fan who hasn't been feeling anything close to unrest. You have had this assumption all along that our coach is in play, and despite everything presented you still assume...

Here's another thing that goes to show what I've said all along.

Dumpster fire.

Please buddy take your tired old B/S and leave ,you were the same old FART that was on here not long ago saying it was a done deal ,LET IT GO it's way past stupid .JUST LET IT GO

Please, I want them to continue on this track. We, as a fan base, aren't too far removed from being in the same boat thinking we could land anyone we wanted. The reality check hit us hard. 'Tis time Texas looks in the same mirror.

""I guess I have to say it," Saban said. "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."

Do you guys remember that? Saban was a lifelong Miami Dolphins coach. He stated it, and then days later he became the Alabama coach.

He just signed yet another extension with Alabama, do you remember that? People use that tired ass example for 8 years now. Hes said a million times he regrets the way all that happened. Hes at Alabama, move the hell on and focus on something else.

Old Whiner from Allbarn(Tehehas), When Saban said that he didn't mean it in his heart. I am sure that you have said things that you have regretted. We all have. I hope you have a merry Christmas and Find your new Coach.

I heard that Texas is really interested in Jim Bowie, Davy Crocket, or William Travis. They are just waiting for the Alamo Bowl to be finished.
